Official Jon Gruden Thread XI

One thing I dont understand is why anybody even thinks anyone else would be interested. I mean hell, when kiffydoosh left, we couldnt beg the #8 guy to come and settled for #9...so now all of a sudden we got to wait on #2,3,4,5 to say no?? Where were they at 3 years ago? What about us improved to make us a coaching target?? Gruden wants to be here...

FTR, all this media stuff is BS.

This is one of the best jobs in the country. Kiffy left right before the first day of class and chaos ensued. The program was not nearly as stable as it is now. We almost could have had our pick of coaches to replace Fulmer.

Basillio will "be shocked" if they do the Gruden deal. Will "be shocked" if they don't do Gruden deal. LOL

I would be shocked if he comes, and would be shocked if he doesn't. That is what Basilio just said... WOW

I have a hard time even buying the concept that he has to wait to get his last Bucs paycheck.

First of all, he's employed now. Why would the Bucs care if he's a coach or a commentator? Second, he'd be an NCAA coach not an NFL coach. I seriously doubt he had a clause in his contract that said he couldnt be a college coach but he could be a commentator. Makes no sense.

I think that whole Bucs paycheck thing is a bunch of bunk. He's gonna get paid regardless.

I respectfully disagree. Most of these severence payments are conditioned on the coach not getting another coaching gig.job

When the Nov. 30 announcement date was said on here last week and we had to wait 10 days it seemed like such a long wait. Now it is only like 4 days and still seems like an eternity to wait for this. All in due time I guess. Hang in there guys. Soon!

If Gruden isnt announced today, my confidence in getting him goes from 90% to 10%.

The season is over and our old coach is fired.

If they are hesitating to announce Gruden, it is because someone has a reservation about hiring him, either the money or the power or the belief in his ability to coach in college.

If they wait any longer its because they are genuinely looking for an alternative to Gruden.

Just my opinion.

You do know those wins came when he was coaching temple. Whoever he beat as their coach is irrelevant they won 3 games the 3 years before he got there

Success at Temple does not translate to success in the SEC. Coaching in the SEC is not the same ballpark....it is not even the same sport.

U don't have to believe that Gruden is coming here to post here.

This isn't "believing Gruden will be the next head coach" thread.. It's a Gruden discussion thread, and that's what I'm doing.. Discussing things related to him.

90% of what is said here is pro Gruden and thats why the thread was orginally created, so those who believe can come away from the main board to share their interest without stirring up bloody hornets nests.

U dont have to believe , but for anyone to come here and try to be nega about it, is asking for trouble...as someone said earlier...its like going to a church and trying to tell them jeebus aint real...aint gonna happen and only starts a fight...

If you want to say his isnt coming, thats fine, but dont expect it to go over well and then go all "Why u so mad" when it dont like alot of others do...

Not fighting man...

I thought the target date was the 30th, anyway?

If you know you're going to by a Vette Why would you look at a pinto . Plus this post was dead the sec you said Basilio's post made more sense and seemed more credible than ANYTHING else I have read regarding the coaching search.

I usually think he's a clown.... but this post was solid IMO.

Point me elsewhere for something better and I would very much appreciate the fine reading material!

I think Basilio is full of crap but if UT does not give Chucky the job and we come to find out he wanted it....Dave Hart should pack his bags and never, ever be allowed to enter the state of Tennessee...

Well, might as well get off the bandwagon because it wont happen today

Solid Post.......... imho

It is a solid post, but I would like to know the buyouts of all the options we are looking at. I know stoops will cost more than Gruden because of his buyout. What about Patterson, Petersen, Mora Jr., and all the others, anybody have a good site to lookup buyouts?

Yep, we will disagree. I would be 1000% shocked if this thing was held up because of one paycheck from a job he had 4 years ago. Seems like we could easily compensate for that in order to get this guy on the recruiting trail.

That's is absolutely true but you are seriously narrowing your candidate pool if SEC success is a rerequisite. Gruden is the only candidate I have seen mentioned that can boost SEC success or higher.

This Gruden is the only possible coach that can make the fanbase happy is ridiculous.
