Uh...wasn't boro one of these "og's"?

Yes, and Boro is as solid as they come. I do think he got some bad info on the Erin Andrews-Ainge communication. He has been here since day 1. Don't blast him, he has only brought info and never gave a definitive timeline. He said as many people thstknow he would not be surprised to have it leak within 48 hours and all the impatient children turned that into a definite announcement in 48 hours.

Tired of people putting words in others mouths, or posts as the case may be.

Boro has no clue! Get this through your heads people. He wiffed on the 48 hour statement. Then a few days later he said it could be at a later date to cover his arse!! He gets his info from the OG's. He also said Clay Travis knows and Erin Andrews has a source when in fact Erin said she has no real inside info on the situation and to not quote her. And if anyone thinks that dick head Clay Travis has a source then they have brain damage. If you're gonna hang on anyone's nuts in this thread then swing on the OG's. I trust their knowledge the most. Gruden!!

I thought they made you go away? :banghead2:

FWIW, I personally believe that UT and Gruden continue to negotiate a deal. Just like buying a house, there are offers and counter-offers with neither side showing their full hand. Once an offer is agreed to, there is still a home inspection and based on the results, negotiations begin again. To leverage their negotiation position, UT will look at other coaches - not wanting to look desperate and leave Gruden in the driver's seat. In the end, a deal will or will not happen. But I do believe discussions are ongoing.

Yeah and speaking of which where the hell are all those guys???:dunno:

They have all basically said that they are staying away for now. One stated it's like taking his 7 y/o to Toys R Us and having to constantly tell them "no, no, no". They are tired of having to say their same stance over and over and over. Do not much blame them.

Was here early and often...

I'm not convinced Gruden is in or out (not that it matters what I think). However, Boro has always been level headed and though he "missed" on that 48 hour thing he only brings what he hears to the board...much like media goofballs bring what they hear to the airwaves. He's just a solid Vol fan trying to join this conversation with info he's been given..

Dispelling his contributions is a shame I think...I like the guys input. If he's totally off he's openly said he'll take his lumps..

The 48 hour thing was just speculation on his part. he stated that when he said it.

Ok guys. Try thinking about this. So all the ogs saying gruden. Everyone was on the gruden train , now they are not. Did y'all forget that hart has to interview other coaches because of the laws. The gruden deal may be done , and the interviewing of the other coaches required by law is prob why everyone spinning the other way now because that's what they are hearing. Doesn't mean gruden ain't coming, just means they are interviewing others

True.

Geez, a lot of you are acting like spoiled petulant children. It's been almost 8 days since we officially announced the firing of Dooley. The AD is doing its' job. The media is doing its' job. Take a deep breath and let the process play itself out. Gruden Claus will be here soon enough.

this convo again:banghead2:

I was pummeled last week for pasting in a section of an email sent to me by a friend who formerly worked for Bob Lamonte. The gist of the message was this: Bob's rough on everyone, Bob makes everyone cross a hurdle of a Minimum Requirements Doc before a deal coming to Gruden. Finally my friend made the observation that Bob has elevated Gruden to the point that it may be bad for Gruden.

Then my friend said that as of the end Wednesday, no one had gone beyond the Minimum Requirements doc. (including UT). That pissed everyone off, and I was called a troll. So be it.

This morning I talked to my friend again. He is an Michigan alum and flew back from the OSU game through Memphis with a friend (who works at a sports agency as well) before returning to Dallas. They talked UT and the coaching search on the flight. Then this morning he also tried to talk to friends in his old office (LaMonte's) to cover things brought up in the conversation. Here is his take (I crossed out a specific name as I don't know if it would be ok to use it here):

"Conversation to Doc flow goes like this: AD or proxy gauges interest from candidates through surrogates or agents. If interest is established, a date is given by AD for potential offer letter. Coaches either use offer letter as a chit to get more from their current job, or move to negotiation. If negotiation is successful an MOU is signed. Contracts come much later. After a hire.

The key point is gauging interest can involve as many candidates as the AD wants, but only one offer can be sent at a time. That is sacred. There are never two offers out at a time.

That said, here's what I got out of the flight, and talking to Coatcheck this A.M.- There is no action on Sexton clients (Fisher) as he has an ACC championship. Hart would not call Fisher without permission from the FSU AD, and that would go on after the ACC game. Similarly with Cornrich. No action there according to *****, and Stoops has another game too. My buddy thinks there is an announcement this week. That leaves Golden and Gruden unless Hart is going to pick a dog, or call in Smart. So- here is the best part if you are a UT fan- Lamonte is in at 5am today, and no one is taking my call. I can't say that means a deal is happening with Jon, but I can say Bob only comes in this early for action, and Bob locks down any talky on deal days. I couldn't even get **** on IM or cell. I would still call it highly unlikely, but interesting. Here is the contradicting info: My buddy and ***** think Senior presented a breach of terms letter to UM to free Golden from the buyout. UM screwed Golden by not telling him any of the NCAA stuff, and that may free Golden in his escape clause which includes an unethical behavior clause. I've been hearing this for two weeks, but it sounded very real from what I heard on the flight. If they are active, they must have a job for Al. ***** says UT announcement by Wed of this week. That would tell me Jon is the long odds horse, and Golden is the likely candidate. While some of your fans may piss and moan about Golden, he is seen among coaches as one of the best recruiters and developers of talent in the business. You cannot judge him from UM. It is a **** show down there right now. The only curveball I have is, that Strong and Butch Jones have been trying to get any upgrade they can. BJ looks like he'll walk into Hell at KY. So where does Strong go? I would hope not UT. He is overrated. Thats all I've got. I'll let you know if I get a call back. I think you guys look good on this as long as it isn't Strong."

I still believe that if it is Gruden it will be more like December 17th then November 30th.

Everyone needs to chill. The longer this goes without any official denial from Gruden or Tennessee the better (means talks/dealings are still alive). If the deal falls through Hart would want something official to come out that Gruden isn't coming to allow sometime for the fanbase to wrap their heads around the idea of another coach and to be excited for that hire.

Jimmy Hyams/Erik Ainge saying it isn't likely to happen isn't an official announcement either.

Also Hart legally has to interview a certain number of candidates correct? Hense why he is going to the coaching convention to get those done.

I know it's all relative, but this doesn't seem like "soon after Kentucky" to me. Jmo.

:hi:

I'm not blasting him. But don't say you're 100% sure if you're not. Take the OCI "3 amigos" debacle as an example. It just annoys me when people say something is 100%. Absolutely nothing in life is 100%.

You could easily interpret Basilio's blog this morning in this manner. He claims we have "put Gruden to the side and looking at others". Well, that is what they have to do by law.

THIS ^^^^^

Thanks Carter.

I wasn't chastising the guy...I'm sorry if my post came off that way. I was simply trying to say he's been a solid contributor and disagree with the ungrateful little sods that come on here acting like asses calling him (and others) out when they are simply trying to share decent news.

So is it his option that the Gruden hire is a done deal or as a fact? He will spin it anyway he can to cover his rear. Be cautious of his words fellas. I want this just as much as anyone else does.

If you don't agree with someone on here that is not a problem. However, you are going to get some flak for running down Boro. I don't know Boro and therefore I don't completely buy into him or any of the other OG's. However, I appreciate the willingness to put themselves out there. They have helped provide me with hope and I will take hope where I can get it when it comes to TV football.

Agree.

Boro was writing haikus for Gruden when a large fraction of the fanbase still thought Dooley could get it done. He's brought solid information.

He said he didn't think the lid could be kept on the news for 48 hours. There is a lot of noise that we will know something this week, so it wouldn't be too far off.

Reporters will sit on stories, just like the ones that are starting to mushroom about our unorganized and ungentlemanly former head coach.
