In glad you asked because I actually had to google that answer and matching these dates further comforts my confidence that particular friend.

No, Edsall was hired at Maryland after UConn's BCS bowl game in 2011.

The NFL coordinator route might not be all that bad of a route to take although jay has zero college experience IIRC his resume correctly

I would prefer Del Rio. He has HC experience although not in college.

If he did indeed wanted jay named coach in waiting at Miami then my guess is he was planning to be there a short time and then turn it over to jay.

Yup. Pretty common knowledge if you follow the NFL. One of the most respected assistants in the game. If an NFL team would be willing to consider him, I can't believe he wouldn't be good enough for a high profile college team.
