Official Jon Gruden Thread X

I just base it on my period as a member. Could you give me some wrong opinions made by skeeter the last 10 months. His slate started with me since being a member. Dont care to go way back . One thing he's saying is he does not know who the new coach will be. These other 6 or 7 have echoed done deal with Gruden over and over in 10 threads full of Gruden. They will either be my hero's or labeled unreliable.

I can give you one example right off the bat. he was less than 50% on his recruiting calls last year, and that is supposedly his specialty. Being wrong is not what pisses people off btw, taking no responsibility is. He and others never admit to being wrong, it's always the recruit lied to the staff, or it fell through at the last minute BS. You don't have to believe me, as I said do your research and see for yourself.

I want to believe stuff like this but the "insiders" on here are starting to make claims that contradict basic University and state policy.

TN has to interview 3 candidates and have the job posted for 10 days before they can announce a coach, is this not correct? If it is then there is no way they can announce anyone on Monday by the timeline alone.

I've been on board the Gruden train for awhile and want to believe but doubt is creeping in.

Yeah, I don't understand this either. SpringBokVol posted this...but then someone else posted that the AD has separate rules and can do whatever basically.

OG's have said all along if they were wrong, they will gladly take their lumps here...(they won't have to)

I wonder if the same goes for all you anti-OG's?? Will you come back here and eat crow when Gruden is announced as our head coach?? Something tells me y'all won't...

Gruden, baby!

Way too many people over analyzing this.

Here's what you need to know, then you can figure out what you believe:

This process began many weeks ago.
The AD is not driving this process.
Money will not be a limiting factor if they have the right guy on the hook.
Boosters and Trustees will not trust this hire to an AD that has been here for 13 months. Particularly after the Hamilton debacle.
Money for the buyout/hire did not come from the AD.
Current AD personnel will not be allowed to be a hindrance in getting a deal done.

Believe what you want.

YES to all counts

Not true. If he had beaten Vandy he would be coaching this week. He was going to be coaching until a bowl wasnt in play anymore.

I said had it have been a home game. And his fate had been sealed along time ago. This Hart wanting to keep him thing is nothing more than pr.

I have nothing to add to this discussion, but I'd just like to say I don't care for Gruden's hair. It seems brittle to me. Needs to use a deep, leave in conditioner IMO.

Not true for strategic hires. Do you think they posted the chancellor position? Also see the Dooley timeframe.

So tens of thousands of seats were left empty and the fanbase left hanging while Dave Hart stuck it out with Dooley? Dave Hart a lone wolf standing up to boosters and empty seats all at the same time? Not buying it.

That's fine. Guess you missed DH say himself, he did not want to do anything, as long as the team was still playing for a bowl game. he said it not once, but twice.

Where's 'boro? Can you confirm this sighting from the gun show today?

I think alot of people are just guessing the 18 million is to get a coach this year. The 18 million is 6 per year for the next 3 years. It just so happens that we will owe Dools and company 9 million over the next 3 years. 1/2 of the 18 million is gone before they even have it. Yes, UT could spend it all on new coaches if they want to do so. With Hart being as concerned as he is with our reserve, I doubt we are hiring a 10 million dollar a year coaching staff. JMO

I'm not so sure that the money and where it goes is really the issue. The issue at the time of the announcement was to clear some hurdles, clean up some issues that make the program unattractive to potential candidates. This would include Gruden, but any other candidate as well. It was a proclamation to the coaching world that they would have the resources and a committment from the academic side to compete on a level playing field with other teams in the SEC.

People..... If you believe gruden is not coming then great.

Many of the same questions....I.e job opening on state board, number of interviews and so forth has been discussed numerous times.

We all bleed orange and white. Believe news or not. It is simple.

I heard him but not even sure anymore of what we are arguing about? Do you believe he came to that on his own?

Well it'd be nice if someone could either what the requirements are then. I know they have to interview a affirmative action candidate. Unless that has happened already or happening today I can't see an announcement coming anytime soon (and not considering the 10 day requirement). I'm sure the African-American community wouldn't be too happy if they knew a candidate was simply getting a token interview just to meet those requirements. Just a lot of things that aren't adding up right now based on the timeline many are suggesting.

All I'm saying is whether one believes it is Gruden or not you have to be naive to think he has any power in what is going on.
