Payton and Brees are attached at the hip and with the long contract Brees signed this year I doubt he goes anywhere. Payton personally recruited Brees to the Saints.

They were talking on the local sports radio down here that no coach has ever won 2 Superbowls with 2 different teams so that could sway him a little.

Payton will never leave NO
Gruden will never leave Tampa.

I'm a Cowboys fan and attend at least one game a yr and have family who have box availability to every home game. This is the truth. Jerry Jones and Jon Gruden's heads couldn't both fit in Cowboys Stadium. Sean Payton may have as big a head and it may not work out but if the Cowboys are looking for a new coach for next year Payton will be lured with a contract to rival Bellicheck and any others that are the highest paid

There is also some worry that Gruden may be hard to control if hired. I've also heard Gruden has made a few other requests on things I don't feel comfortable posting.

I don't know what the details are exactly. One guess would be on the rumor that he wants Chad Morris as OC. Morris has a huge buyout and maybe Gruden is pushing for UT to pick up that tab? Just my guess.

Spoke to johnny majors today on the lynchburg square( he has family down here) and I asked him about the coaching situation and he believes the deal is done and were keeping it quiet until after kentucky game. I then continued to ask him whom he thinks we signed and he said he can't specify but its a good hire. Hopefully its gruden.

This screams Jon Gruden. All of the other possible candidates are still coaching at schools.

I believe that Jon Gruden was in Knoxville today and will be till Saturday. I overheard this from an Assistant AD conversation.

I also believe a deal has been agreed upon for him to become our HC but no papers are signed. "Hand shake" agreement like

This is the same guy that has been putting a 5% on our chances with Gruden. He now admits that there is big time mutual interest, and that we are negotiating over assistant coaches and some control issues.
