Won the east this year? After the Kentucky loss I think most saw the writing on the wall and that is why it started in the spring, plus some comments from Gruden. Plus if you believe what happened with UNC after Kentucky, it was time. You just don't do that. So, is it possible? Maybe, but most I would believe knew he would fail this year again, and they were right.
I wasn't one who thought he would win the east but I recall after that Georgia Dome throttling of NC State that expectations improved immensely. Especially seeing what Georgia and Florida did against non conference opponents. My question was whether we fire Dooley if Gruden agrees to take the job regardless if Dooley had a good year. The masses agree and I agree with that sentiment, that if Dooley had a good year he would return. We can assume how a season will play out but till it does we must wait. I don't think the Barn expected to win a NC in 2010 and I didn't expect us to win one in 98 nor win the east in 04 and 07.
Ok..here is where I am at. There still has been no denials from either UT or the Gruden camp debunking the hole Gruden to UT situation. Until something like that comes out I have to belive Gruden is in play! Lets remember this...UT contacted Gruden 3 yrs ago before they hired Dooley....do you think just maybe he said...I am interested but not ready yet....lets see how the next coach does, and if it doesnt work out, then I am in! I find it very hard to belive that someone has not been talking with Gruden for a very long time. We know this was the case also at OSU last year with Meyer. OSU may never admit it, but I can assure you they were in discussion for a long time before the job became open. The AD has to know Grudens intentions at this point....if the answer was no...then someone would have said so by now, because this becomes huge media mess if they dont!!
