OK here's my take and I'm no insider;

- It looks like we have a LOT of guys on here with VERY similar stories and timelines on Gruden coming to UT.
- I do not recall since Fulmer's firing where so many people have agreed on a same story so early on...
- Did Arkansas make him an offer? Sure why not...do we know when? That is the key! They could have made it 4 months ago and already been told NO, but we're on the same boat as Arkansas and all fan bases turn to Chucky...to save face they have to show they've done something.
- Remember when Dooley was hired? We heard some big names like Stoops thrown around...did he even entertain UT? Probably not, but UT let it leak to show the fan base: Kiffin screwed us, we tried our best and Dooley is what we could get. Arkansas could be doing the same.
- Maybe UT wasn't so sure on some of his demands and instead of walking away from a job he wants, his agent floated the rumor of the offer just to push UT to accept something he wants.

Am I confident? Sure.

Do I believe it's a done deal? No, because let's face it...our luck recently sucks so I want to fully celebrate when I see it.

On the flip side, I told my son Dooley was fired and he celebrated saying the Vols will no longer lose.

I spoke with an assistant AD yesterday who told me NO to Gruden and YES to Charlie Strong

I am not saying I believe him...he has been wrong before ... he was right on Kiffin three weeks before it happened, and got nothing from him on Dooley???

It was a setback for me for a while, but I am thinking Hart has told them guys no leaks if they want to keep their job.. So I am going with Lex on this,

Lex, Bcarter, Boro, Gman etc. these guys have contacts with the money, I do not so?

I am all in 100% Gruden

After the way things turned out with Dooley and things I've heard about his character(which may or may not be true) I think he was lying when he said he never contacted Shannon and said he had no clue where that rumor came from. Add to that in Harts presser, he said he had nothing to do with picking and choosing Sal, or any other assistants for that matter. Shannon fell through and Dooley had to hurry and make a hire. Enter Sal Sunseri! The rest is history.

Another thing which will throw people for a loop, and probably me as well.
Doesn't UT have to interview a minimum number of candidates including minority candidates prior to hiring someone?

If that's the case, those names will leak out for sure...maybe some of those guys' agents will leak that out so the fan base can be ticked off, and then Gruden gets unhappy with some stuff he hears and tries to push the courtesy interview to real candidate status...could happen and we need to be prepared for it.

With Hammy I would already have emailed documents from his underlings to know more lol. He was so bad, and allowed his staff to try to look cool and share things with basically everyone they knew. Hart has it on DefCon 5 lockdown. With a hire like this he has to, the money will talk enough for everyone lol.

That's what I have been saying to folks around me. Since it is a state job, aren't their laws about interviewing minorities and other types of conditions?

We were all excited and then we got Dooley. We ended up with a guy that few of us ever heard of and we had to google his name and find out he had a losing record at LA Tech. I remember I was sure Shannon was coming and then it was Sal.

I know some people who know some people and they are saying Gruden too. Still can't help being skeptical because of all we've been through these last few years. If there is any small chance that they can't get Gruden, I need them to get someone we can all get behind, that when we google we won't have to try to figure out a reason why he would be a good coach (I'm talking about Golden)

I have a niece and a nephew who are Alabama fans and try to get my 3 year old to say "Roll tide" all the time...her response is always "No. That's a bad word. My daddy and my mommy say 'Go Vols!'"

Almost brought a tear to my eye the first time...:cray:

Either the gentleman quoted has the lowest self esteem in the history of mankind; needing to garner attention, identity and respect from those on this board for only a short period of time till disproven or we have a new coach. Since I do not believe anyone to be such a delusional narcissistic soul and re-reading his posts, and making one inquiry to an ol' sage I have known for 20 plus years, I have come to the conclusion that a loss on Sat combined with the firing on Monday will usher in the Jon Gruden era at the University of Tennessee. Well done OCIVol .............Relevant again..Thankful
