Coastypop ... I said they should make a GREAT hire quickly. I didn't say they should make a poor hire.

Surely, Hart has had a plan in place for some time. Not a hire per se, just some conversations and contingencies. He's not starting from scratch today. 100% guarantee.

Opinion: it won't be a current college head coach. The AD is financially strapped. Paying the buyout for a high-end coach would be taking it on the chin in three different ways (buying out Dooley, paying new coach, AND paying former school of new coach). Hard to see them taking this path unless it was an AMAZING hire. My 2 cents.

I'm not certain, but I seriously doubt that. He hates Chattanooga. He doesn't have too many nice things to say about his time growing up here. You have to remember that he grew up in a time when blacks were still being shot by Klan members in this town, and he has every right to resent it or want anything to do with TN.

My fiancé is a huge Vol fan as well and she said, "If I was Cindy and my husband took a rival job over where I went to school.....I'd cut his b@lls off in his sleep." Quote. Gives you a woman's perspective lol

all the secret talk is over it's gonna hit the Media wide open now. Every Sports Media outlet will be talking Gruden to UT. I think the hype will make it more appealing to Gruden too. Talking about him coming in with his offense and turning the UT program completely around works on a mans ego when he is hearing it from every sports station in the US

Could also be a downer...knowing that it would be almost impossible to live up to the hype. I want Gruden, but stuff like that can cut both ways.

Didn't mean to attck... just my thoughts.. I read this on GoVolsxtra and thought it interesting concerning the money

The $5.6 million to Dooley and Chaney is guaranteed. The other seven assistants working under multi-year contracts could be due as much as $3.71 million, depending on how quickly they find other jobs and how much those jobs pay.

That money, while daunting, is unlikely to significantly impact the budget for Tennessee’s next head coach.

I was very skeptical about Gruden until last night... I got a text from a fraternity brother that is a sportscaster at a news station in Tennessee.. He grew up a Vandy fan and has no reason to lie to me.. He told me that he talked to a BOT member that said he was 80% sure Gruden was taking the job.. Flame me all you want, I don't have sources and probably never will but I do believe that this guy is telling me the truth
