Meh, he's getting a lot of run for NFL positions.

Probably an out, or they don't care to pay it.

As for UT...its taken about 6-8 weeks for everybody to get there, but I think we're all on the same page now.

I checked out after Miss. State so I'm not all that angry.

I just want brighter days ahead. That's all. Just a sliver of hope.

Yeah I've been off the idiot train since Miss. State too. I'm glad to get Mike Shula 2.0 outta here.

They cannot announce a new coach tomorrow. It would look horrible on the University for having a deal locked up while another man is in the position of coach.

True. He was insinuating something besides Dooley's firing. Or that's what I was reading into it.

No way Cross gets those kind of numbers in a Chaney offense. Got hit those swing passes to Pig before you give it to a stud running back.

Darin Hinshaw is a terrible WR coach too. Don't know why people think he can coach the position better than Tee Martin. WRs routes haven't looked worse.

I'm not getting into a Justin Hunter debate with you again. Elite players on offense are almost averaging 40 points a game with questionable coaching.

There is no debate. Facts are facts. He and his OC pxssy up versus aggressive schemes. It is what it is. Wish I could say something different and he was the WR I loved early last year. But it's not and a spade is a spade plain and simple.

Elite recruiters have a much higher ceiling than gameday coaches IMO. A coach like Kiffin needs to bring in an allstar staff and he made a huge mistake bringing his dad to the west coast to face the spread. Elite players can overcome flaws in their coaches. Tennessee won't get to the top in the SEC bringing in classes ranked 10-20 every year.

I agree that Tennessee is recruiting far below what is needed to win SEC titles, but coaching over-rules talent. James Franklin has a roster of piss-poor 2and3-stars (2fourstar frosh) who embarrassed UT tonight. Not to mention UT has about 3 times the recruiting budget that Vandy could ever dream of having. This is just one example.

Again I would like to reiterate coaching over-rules talent!

I really get this impression as well. Receivers routes are not good and they've struggled to catch the ball.

One positive, I hope Vincent Dallas gets more playing time in the future. He is a solid player who is not afraid of contact and is fundamentally sound.

Tried to talk reason in the FF tonight. I got told to "take my apathy elsewhere."

You're a brave soul. FF is just plain stupid. The Gruden thread, I'm afraid, is boom or bust. If we don't get Gruden, those people are going to riot. No one else is going to get us back to happier times.

This thread in this forum is about the only place I can read / discuss UT in a sane manner.

once again, the volunteers have Talent

But they are not a good team.

they dont play together at all. the respective units dont ever operate as a unit.

If the defensive line holds stymies the Offensive Line you can count on the LBs filling the wrong gap or taking on blocks with the wrong shoulder.

If the LBs hold up, the DBs arent in the right spot or taking the right angles.

it is a colossal failure by the coaches.

One More week.

I have no interest in reading the FF. It is a mess. Agreed that the Gruden thread will explode if he does not come here. A lot of people will not be happy with anyone but Gruden.

This thread is nearly the only one I post in about UT football.

How many SEC titles has Franklin won? Franklin hasn't beaten any team with a winnning record yet. Thats really not a good example.

A good example would have been Bill Snyder at KState, but KState doesn't play in the SEC and he doesn't have to handle talent gaps like he would in the SEC.

There hasn't been one SEC champ without a top 5 class ranking, there hasn't been a NC winner without a top 5 class.

Every coach with a NC is an elite recruiter, there isn't one coach that isn't an elite recruiter with a NC.

CP is one of the most talented players I've ever seen with the ball in his hands. The stuff he does is just ludicrous. I can't think of a comparison. Unique and unreal.

He does literally nothing else well. Bad routes, hasn't learned the playbook, doesn't block well, takes plays off when the ball isn't coming his way. I hope he doesn't go to the NFL thinking he can get by solely on athletic talent like he has here. At some point he'll have to actually learn how to play football.

and what better way to learn how to play football than to get paid while doing so.
