My mistake. I hope so. All it will take is the right hire. Who knows, Golden might be the man. I don't think he is, but who knows. I wish we still had Fulmer. Hindsight is always 20/20 though.

Respecting someone and their opinion doesn't mean agreeing with every opinion they have.

I agree with LotteryPick - saying Tennessee football will never be relevant again is pure idiocy.

Too many people with too much money will ultimately guarantee that Tennessee footbal will return to prominence.

No one said Larry is an idiot, but this particular opinion of his is idiotic.

Retain Graham, bring in Martin and another TN guy or two and you've got guys that can recruit to TN as well as coach. To me, that's less of a risk than taking a gamble on an unknown.

While Cutcliffe might turn out to be a good head coach, he won't be afforded the time needed to "develop" his players, even if they were able to eventually play with the best in the SEC (which I'm not saying they will be). Plus, he won't be able to recruit the players needed for an immediate turn around.

Meanwhile, the stadium will be empty because of the divided fan-base and we will be looking at additional years of irrelevance. Home run hire or go home.

Dooley is the worst coach in the history of UT Football, but Hart should have never placed him in a position of being a lame duck coach.

Trotting him out for pressers and doing the everyday PR that is involved with being the HC at UT was unfair to him.

The team played like a team that had assumed the personality of the coach who had given up. They quit. He made things worse with the benching of Bray while we were leading.

This has been a TEAM effort to destroy a once proud program by all involved.

I am a sad Vol tonight.

I apologize because this isn't directed toward you specifically, but people need to forget about the notion of Cutcliffe and Chavis ever working together again.

It isn't ever going to happen, no matter how much we offered. I hear people call in to the radio shows repeating this over and over.

They never liked each other when they worked for Fulmer and they don't like each other now. There is o way either would ever work FOR the other. Ever.

Agreed, but IMO, the only HR hire is Gruden. After that, the focus should be hiring someone who can stabilize the program quickly and get back to basics, which is winning the games Tennessee is supposed to win.

There are maybe 3 or 4 coaches nationally who could come in here and have this program in title contention again in 2 or 3 years. After those 3 or 4 (who aren't coming here by the way), IMO, it's a crapshoot. So you focus on hiring someone who can beat the teams Tennessee is used to beating and will not embarrass the program against the top teams.

I know most folks won't want to admit this, but this program has had such little success lately that everything is going to have to be rebuilt on a step by step basis. First step - making sure you beat the Vanderbilt's, Kentucky's, Missouri's, and Miss. State's of the world consistently. Until they can do that, there's little hope in competing with anyone else.

I honestly have no idea other than a few things I've heard. If you are right, then that would make me think twice about hiring Cut, though I'd still hire him over someone like Golden, who might be better than Dooley was, but not much.

So it appears that a lot of people on here want to blame Hart for allowing Dooley to coach this long. Will those people also claim Hart had nothing to do with a Gruden hire?
