Did he really say that?!?

We had a discussion of some remarks he made a while back (like in the summer). I wasn't getting on VN much in the summer so I didn't actually read his posts. :hi: The other guys did. From what I understand his pessimism was rooted in the often talked about UT admin and AD conflicts we have discussed lately. He may feel different now.

900, y'all.

Here is my thinking. If hart hires a cheap replacement the he is saying **** you to us fans. If he does that imma say **** you back.

Yeah. If we get another bargain blowout saban secretary, I can't see myself making any effort to make it to a game next year.

Here is an interesting story about Thunder! Several years ago, Thunder gave UT 1 million to run through the T. Shortly after the gift, there was a write up in the News Sentinal about the gift; it was almost insulting. I would have been mad, too! I was working early one morning and I was listening to my coworkers police scanner and I picked up on a cell phone call. It was Thunder talking to another money guy! He was pissed! He was on I75 north. On his way to K-town to have the journalist fired. The journalist is still employed at the sentinel. I still can't believe that I picked up on that conversation!

I hope you're joking.

Who is this referring to?

Is he gonna get me fired from the Marines? I've been in for over 24 years so it will suck if he does. Sarcasm

That's idiocy. College football is a cycle, like every other team sport.

Yes it is. Even if Bray, Hunter, and CP all leave for the NFL, the foundation for a good running game will still be there. The OL should be good still, the RB's are getting better still by the second, and there is a very athletic group of young WR's on this team.

The front 7 will 3 or 4 NFL players. McNeil will be a year older and Randolph should be back. The foundation will be there unlike when Dooley took over.

If Gruden doesn't work out, the most important thing is to hire a good football coach. I understand the importance of recruiting, but being able to develop players is most important. I think a good coach could win 8 games next year with this bunch.

I know many will disagree, but it's why I'd hire Cutcliffe if it's not Gruden. If Cut brings back Chavis, the discipline and x's and o's will be there. Retain Graham, bring in Martin and another TN guy or two and you've got guys that can recruit to TN as well as coach. To me, that's less of a risk than taking a gamble on an unknown.

Ever again, though? I know you're pissed at the current state of the program, but to say we'll never been nationally prominent again, is asinine.

Really? We are a state that has very little blue chip recruits. It will take a top notch coach to get us back. I never said we WON'T be relevant again. I said we won't until the right hire is made. Big difference.

LWS was implying we won't ever be prominent again, which is why I was perplexed by you agreeing.

We'll get a top notch coach eventually, if not really soon.

Yuck. Cut might win but he is so boring.

Golden's resume is much better than what Dooley's was three years ago. That said, being under .500 for his career will keep him from getting hired, IMO. They're going to want to avoid anything that looks like Dooley - that means Nos to Golden because of his record, Smart because of who he works for now, and Dykes because of the school he is coaching at now.

Since Golden shouldn't be hired and is at a BCS school, he is the perfect smoke screen. At least, that's what I hope.

I may not agree with hi, but Larry is definitely not an idiot. I respect his opinion a lot.

It weirds me out when people refer to him as Larry, because I'm Larry. I'm not LWS, but my name is Larry. So I see people talking about how much they trust me, and I have to remember that LWS is THE Larry.

The way this "Larry" guy talks you would think he is the most likely guy to be hired and that is the main reason I don't believe what he is saying, but I am with you on this one. There is no way in hell the administrators at UT are stupid enough to fire Dooley and basically hire a guy that is the spitting image of him.

I will not support the hiring of someone with another losing record as a head coach.
