The Runner's thread

4 miles with hill repeats yesterday afternoon. Saw a bear cross the trail about 40-50 yds in front of me. He was pretty big. Wish I could have got a picture.

Braver man than I tri. If I saw a bear I would be running the other direction.

Lol, that's exactly what I did. I was coming up the mountain and he must have heard me coming. I came around a corner and to the top of a ridge. He crossed the trail while running down the mountain. I stopped, watched him disappear and turned and ran the other way.

New PR today. Got 2.74 mi. in 26:52. That's the first time I've ever run under 10 min/mile. Actually had negative splits, even though the last two legs were by far the harder than the first.

This is a huge personal milestone for me. I'd been stuck hovering around the 10:20 mark for months. It's amazing what you can do when you decide to push yourself.

Well done man! There is nothing like beating your personal best!

:eek:lol: Shouldn't have said anything and let me continue to think you ran in the direction the bear was. :eek:lol:

3.2 last night along the River Walk here. Nice run watching the sunset around the river. New shoes felt great last night. I think I am going to really like them.

My buddy posted this on Facebook this morning. He was halfway through his run. Makes me a bit jealous.

pic was too big.

That's what she said!! :)

Is he just running to run or is he in a race?

Lol. Training run. He is doing a race called Hellgate 100k in January. 62 miles. Starts at midnight. As if that wasn't extreme enough you have to wear glasses cause the cold dry air on top of the mountain at 3 AM will make your eyes "freeze" & your vision go cloudy.

You submit an application and the race director decides if you are worthy to run it. Too crazy for me.

That.Is.Hardcore.

If 62 miles wasn't bad enough lets just freeze our eyes while we are at it. Hellgate is a fitting name. Where does this race take place?

About 40 minutes north of my house. Here is a website a lady put together with course description and pictures. It really looks like a cool race except for the extreme suffering.

Did my last run of the week yesterday. Nice new route. My total sine Sunday is 37km. So pleased to be back into my routine.

3.2 mile trail run today at park here in town that is made for trail running, hiking and mountain biking. Absolutely gorgeous day to go run.

1.84 in 17:18 today (Actually stopped twice, once to get my dogs leg untangled from the leash, and once waiting on a car to pass). That 10 min/mile was a huge mental barrier. Figured i might as well smash it to make sure I don't build it up in my head again.

ready to start running again. These past two weeks have been tough! Gonna do 3 miles or so in the morning and see what I can do on Saturday.
