Alright thanks. I didn't know much about him, just seen his name brought up

To go into a little more detail, Morris uses a system similar to Gus Malzahn. A lot of shotgun/pistol, motion, misdirection, and a very fast tempo. Gruden has an offensive background and is known for using a pro style, west coast offense.

It is just hard to imagine Gruden and Morris working together as each is already very established using their scheme.

If Gruden was to come, I'd look for an OC with experience with a pro-style offense and perhaps an NFL background.

I had only been here a couple years when the Fulmer firing occurred (was not raised a UT fan). From what I understand, and could see for myself, Fulmer's firing was due. It might could have waited another year or two, but it was most likely inevitable. Firing Fulmer was not the big mistake here; Hamilton's hires (and misfires) were the biggest mistake in the whole process. Those were the costliest decisions. Yes, of course, if we'd kept Fulmer we probably keep winning 8 or 9 games or so, but I think he had maxed out. Unfortunately, bad hiring practices only worsened things. Hart (and boosters) have to get it right this time. This is the future of Tennessee football for the next decade we are talking about here!

I would agree that the big mistake was the hires by Hamilton. Firing Fulmer was inevitable. With the talent (of lack of talent) we had coming in, things weren't getting better under Fulmer.

this is not really true - i went to college at a small school near UK so most of the student body were UK fans - I saw more than 2 grown men crying when LSU beat them on that hail mary a few years back (more than i care to think)

so they care - just once you've been let down by something so many times it hurts too much to let yourself believe - bengals and lions fans suffer this same fate

so they go to bball b/c at least they will be good there - but that is a passionate fanbase if they could ever compete

I'm not saying there aren't some diehard football fans for the university of KY. I'm saying the entire organization historically has been set up for failure. If they decide to change that culture they are going to have to hire a Petrino (selling their soul) or spend some real dough.

UK was going in the right direction under Rich Brooks. He laid the foundation for UK to actually become a decent football team. Then they made a terrible hire after him with Joker Phillips and it set the program back again. Right now, UK needs to find another guy who can rebuild a program like they did with Brooks and then go from there IMO.

I think Chris Beatty would be a great hire from Illinois as a position coach. The guy is an elite recruiter and a solid position coach. He also went to school at ETSU.

O&W has it right. They need someone to change the culture around football, i.e. what Pearl did for basketball here. Right now, all that school cares about is basketball. I was expecting more trash talk from UK fans about the UT loss to them last year. Surprisingly, I don't get that much (I'm originally from KY).

SCTiger-

Heard there are rumors that Chizik might be retained due to the buyout.

True or just some bama fans trying to start something?

@patrickbrownTFP: Tennessee freshman cornerback Deion Bonner has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules, says UT spokesman.

UT had the resources to become a solid bball program, UK doesn't have those resources in football and won't for a while. Thats why I think they would be better off going with a hire like Art Briles and then go for that hot sauce hire, thats just my opinion.

Hard for me not to think that this is in reference to the theft where he was a "person of interest" but was never formally charged.

But if it's a different head coach don't see how that would really matter

He hasn't even been given the time of day with three different head coaches and many position coaching changes. Here is the exact quote, interpret how you want.

I'm not sure how realistic him coaching at UT is. For reasons that I don't understand(or Tee) UT has expressed no interest in even speaking with Tee about a position.

This is very true. I grew up in southern IN around quite a few UK fans and the vast majority of them love football.

What school did you go to?

I went to Georgetown College - bout 20 minutes outside lexington - actually grew up in Lville so right there by southern IN

your right there - you always have to think about comparisons though - rich brooks may be the best coach in the history of their program - if your best coach was 7-5 with a bowl win on a good year - if that were Neyland, how much of a football fan would you be? when you go into every year knowing you have zero chance to win your conference or win a natnl title for 80 or so straight years its amazing they get anyone to come to the games

Has anyone checked out 247rumor board?....has pretty good info/rumors and updates links from the sites.

247rumors:
Here are the names we are hearing currently.

Mike Bellotti, former Oregon head coach (new name)
Kliff Kingsbury, Texas A&M offensive coordinator (new name)
Gary Andersen, Utah State
Mike MacIntyre, San Jose State head coach
Phillip Fulmer, former Tennessee head coach

I saw that Fulmer is in consideration for ARKANSAS also.

What commitments are we not keeping to our coaches? Dooley has vastly underperformed here so he's about to get the ax..don't see the problem there.

Looks like TN committed around 11 million dollars to Fulmer and Dooley.

That's a lot of commitment imo.
