Was just having a convo at work here in NYC with a fellow Tennessee alumn (there are few of us here). We were discussing the talent on this year's team and the number of starters (offense and defense) that we think will be drafted into the NFL off this team. I think that number could be as high as 10 (Bray, Patterson, Hunter, 5 O linemen, McCullers, and AJ Johnson). I'm not an NFL guy, though, so not sure if I'm the best talent evaluator.
The big picture point we were discussing is that there is no excuse for why we are worried about beating Vandy and why we are staring down another losing season. Even 'Bama, when it was wondering in the desert, would pop off an occasional 10 win season when they accumulated the talent we had this year.
What are your thoughts? My guess of 10 way too high?
I little bit of what has been said today regarding Harts thinking of Coach Dooley. Hart has been very upset since the Bama game. The final 40 secs of the Mizzou game upset him as well and made him realize Dooley doesnt have that killer instinct. Under no scenario will dooley be back as coach next year.
We knew he was all but done, but today is the first time we've heard that 100% Dooley will not be back as long as Hart is the AD at Tennessee. The players are aware, but believe it or not the team really likes Dooley and have hopes of making a bowl game. The players heads seem to be on straight and seem to be practicing well. Hopefully the distractions dont affect them and they play well.
Smart is not the guy in charge of the Bama defense. Sure you can say that he's been in the mix during the tough games but there is no doubt that Saban is making all of the most critical calls. Smart's main role for the Bama staff is to recruit the state of Georgia. He's a great recruiter and has plenty of connections is this state.

Butch Davis is the best talent evaluator I've seen. Would love him at UT. PR wouldn't be fun though.
