Who are you?

And, what you've just stated doesn't really help UT's argument. What in the world makes UT the right opportunity? We're not exactly in the best shape.

The only way I see UT as the right opportunity for him is if he wants to prove himself at this level. Wants to find a place hes comfortable and settle down and potentially retire from. Problem is I dont think hes that type and his ego will pull him back to the NFL.

UT is not the job Tennessee fans think it is. Especially with the horse crap going on within the University.

NFL is much more of a grind than the SEC.

If Gruden does eventually take over at UT, it would be Bray's best interest to stay. I'm sure we would see some Spider 3-Y Banana :)

But seriously, he would make Tyler a much better QB and actually teach him pre snap reads along with different patterns, shifts, and motions. Hopefully as senior, he could be making his own calls at the LOS.

Yes I did. But any job in the nfl is better than UT. And there are probably 8 other jobs that are better in college.

So whats better tied to Brandon Weedon/Romo/Vick/Foles, or recruiting and choosing who plays for you? While you have top 10 salary regardless of NFL or College.

The better jobs are well, taken.

Not exactly. San diego will be open. And givin grudens crazy complicated offense he would rather have veteran players that are more skilled than college guys IMO.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't see him choosing ut IF he gets offered an nfl job

Ask Spurrier which is a better gig. College is a much better fit for a lot of coaches. Spurrier failed because it was much more of a time drain.

Also a poster on VQ asked Hubbs if there were any silent commits to the team and Hubbs said straight up "No."

To my knowledge, this would even include Reeve Koehler. So I guess you declassify him from "silent commit" to "heavy lean"? lol

Gruden would recruit a lot off of his name alone. He could hire some ace recruiters to do all of his heavy lifting and he could sit back and close once the kids/parents get on campus. JMO.

Yep hours are crazy and even the best coaches in the history of the NFL get canned - see Bellichek at browns - a lot things have to break right for you to succeed in the NFL

in college if you have a great coach with a marquee name at a marquee program it is really not that hard to have success

you only play equivalent competition about 30-40% of the time - in the NFL its more like 80-90%

Have you seen Rivers throw the ball the last two years?

Watching some of Gruden's QB Camp sessions, it seems obvious to me that he really enjoys mentoring young players, especially QBs. What better place to do that, while being paid big bucks, than UT with its pro-style offense?

All I know is Bray better not throw the venus.

I think there are different levels of involvement for coaches. Personality, status as a coach, and work ethic factor in a lot. Spurrier doesn't devote a lot of time off campus to recruiting now. To me Gruden could be the same.

I agree. College is a much easier gig as far as time involvement goes if you want it to be. Most successful coaches spend a lot less time "recruiting" than you'd think.

Native Tennessean aubs guy with UT connections says UT still hoping for Gruden and not looking at Petrino. If UT can't get Gruden to say yes, Plan B includes Jack Del Rio and Miami's Al Golden.

Was just having a convo at work here in NYC with a fellow Tennessee alumn (there are few of us here). We were discussing the talent on this year's team and the number of starters (offense and defense) that we think will be drafted into the NFL off this team. I think that number could be as high as 10 (Bray, Patterson, Hunter, 5 O linemen, McCullers, and AJ Johnson). I'm not an NFL guy, though, so not sure if I'm the best talent evaluator.

The big picture point we were discussing is that there is no excuse for why we are worried about beating Vandy and why we are staring down another losing season. Even 'Bama, when it was wondering in the desert, would pop off an occasional 10 win season when they accumulated the talent we had this year.

What are your thoughts? My guess of 10 way too high?

I think 10 is too high, but honestly I don't think there is any valid excuse for this years performance. This team should've won at least 7 games in the regular season.
