Muschamp is a great defensive coach.

That has nothing to do with strong.

point is that florida has recruited well for 25 years regardless of who is DC so hard to put too much what they did with him there

I tell you what - i dont want to junk up the whole thread with this - i would challenge you go to Lville board and ask people on there what they think of Cstrong's clock and game management - i grew up in Lville and so have watched many of their games in the last 3 years and have found it atrocious

they will tell you he is a great recruiter - i would say as a head man that is still to be determined, although i would grant that at a school w/ resources he would have that potential

then look at who he is beaten

then take a look at his defense in year 3 with his DC past

when take who he is beaten, the defense he has filled at Lville against subpar competition (far worse than petrino's were in his years there), his game/clock management issues and ask yourself if this is the guy to lead UT to greatness

i think if you are honest with yourself you will come up with a no - but i don't know your mind so who knows

If he hasnt played and beaten anyone then he hasnt rebuilt the program...period

he currently has the 73rd class in the country so certainly not sold that he is an elite recruiter - averaging in the mid30's before this year is not elite

I am just not sure why I am supposed to be excited about this guy - he has proven absolutely nothing at Lville and his recruiting is mediocre

He has certainly turned around the program, and you are clueless if you think otherwise seeing as they were 1-6 in the big east each of the two years before he got there. Granted without any major wins, it is debatable as to the extent he has turned the program around. Again, he is finishing at the top of his conference in recruiting every year, which is about the best you can expect from anybody. You aren't going to pull in SEC type recruiting classes to Louisville. It is impressive that he has been able to go in and beat some big time schools out for some very good prospects such as Nick Dawson (Nick Dawson - Yahoo! Sports).

I know a lot of you guys don't venture over to the Gruden thread. I posted this there and wanted to share the news here too.

fwiw: Jason Lacanfora said Gruden interested in Vols over NFL. It was on 106.7 The Fan (DC station) this morning. Anyone else in DC area hear the sports junkies this morn? Would like more detail.

- Poster on VQ. LaCanfora is an analyst for the NFL network. Posters on VQ said that he is their go to guy for a lot of injury reports and inside info a la Adam Schefter for ESPN. SIAP, TIFWIW.

EDIT: LaCanfora now works for CBS Sports. VN posters from/in the DC area have confirmed this report on the radio this morning.

Very good news. Especially when an NFL guy comes out and says it. If we are on Gruden's time, then we just need to be patient.

I want to believe. I just don't know why someone would go for the stress and unknowns of the college game from making huge money working a few hours a week doing enjoyable, stress-free work.

He's coming. Believe.

Yes...he most certainly is.

Another thing...La Canfora has no reason to perpetuate a Gruden-to-UT rumor because he's an NFL guy that lives in Baltimore. He now works for CBS Sports.

I would love to have strong IMO. We would never have the so called "dbs" we have anymore. And we would have the athletes across the bored to compete with UF,LSU,UGA,Ala.. as a whole. Something we haven't had in prolly 5 years.

We will just have to agree to disagree about strong and hope whoever comes will succeed

Once a coach, always a coach. It's in the guy's blood.

For the 346'th time, he loves to coach, and has said he would get back in "for the right opportunity."

Haha, I understand both sides of the argument. I want to believe. I just know that if I were in his situation, I'd be sitting pretty. It's like the rest of my life is a vacation.

He can go on a hell of a vacation after he kicks Sabans ass.lol

La Canfora is one of the better NFL insiders. It's time some of you started to believe.

By far biggest report of the entire situation.

Totally supports theory that we are waiting to Fire Dooley till after season to keep attention off pursuit of Gruden so he can finish his role at MNF quietly and not be linked to the ouster of Dooley.

:good!:

Who are you?

And, what you've just stated doesn't really help UT's argument. What in the world makes UT the right opportunity? We're not exactly in the best shape.

Its really funny to watch all these ideas and scenarios being laid out. If you step back and read them from an objective point of view its like there is a spin on everything. Why on earth would he wait so long to announce? It has NO bearing on what he does not, it will not impact his current position in any way. Even more, why would he not want to announce as soon as possible and let it casually be mentioned on MNF. Let ESPN run with it and report the hell out of it. Everyone knows Dooley is done, so delaying that announcement until after a bowl game is just ridiculous.

If its Gruden then it should be known within a week of the Kentucky game. Especially if all the conspiracy theorists are correct in the paperwork is done and agreed upon which would be the biggest delay.

Don't try to bring logic in here.
Most people think getting this job is the best job in sports
