Wouldnt it be funny if Dooley was the coach next year by default? I just dont see Hart taking a gamble on any unproven coach unless his name is Smart. One thing we're all over looking, Smart may not want this job either.

It would be like Muschamp all over again. But I don't see how we keep Dooley.

He11 naw that wouldn't be funny at all. I thought the decision was already made? So there's no way he could come back.

If offered the job I hope he does turn it down.

It may be funny in one of those sad laugh because the other alternative is crying sort of ways...

Also, just on the topic of the administration, do they not think that having a thriving athletic program at a school helps the university? Outside of donations, it's been proven that teams that compete for athletic championships in major sports have upswings in applications. If you have a larger pool of potential applicants, then you can be more selective. This ultimately helps you in rankings, and can absolutely coincide with increasing academic standards for admissions.

This should be a top ten job. Administration issues are ruining everything. We have money, name, tradition, facilities, everything but competent administration.

Dont tell Cheek that, the guy has had tunnel vision in the past. His only concern is making UT a top 25 research school.

It just seems really short sighted to me. UT is a good state school, and we have already improved our academic standards for entrance dramatically since I applied to colleges six years ago. As it stands now, I probably would have put in an application to go here, but back then I thought it wasn't academically focused enough.

I don't know...maybe my fanhood is blinding me, but I just see the two as working in mutuality, rather than being mutually exclusive.

LOL i just posted something like this. Muschamp turned us down.

Completely differant situation...2.5 weeks from signing day with a gutted roster...this job is appealing now...i just hope the issues you have talked about can be eleviated to some extent so they don't ruin the chance at a great hire

I know it's not "official" but you said he's out and the decision has been made.

If that's the case, then how could Dooley return?

Could end up Hart doesnt have much of a choice but to keep him another year. Its a lose lose situation for Hart it seems. If a big name coach wants nothing to do with UT, people will blame Hart. If he hires another Dooley, people Blame Hart. If he hires Smart, the fan base will be mixed.

A lot of "feelers" have been sent out and the returns arent very good. Its a bad situation at this present time.
