I will withhold judgment till we know something, but I have no knowledge of any credibility in the past. It may just be my ignorance, but I know of nothing.

Most of the boosters wouldnt do that. hamilton let them push him towards kiffen. Im sure Hart would interview a coach if boosters were pushing hard enough, but he will make the final decision. I like Hart, he is not afraid to go to bat for the ad and thats something we have not seen around here in a while. Hamilton was the biggest wuss i have ever met.

We may in fact get a big time coach and everyone will be happy, but people better temper those expectations. If Smart is indeed the next coach at Tennessee, i wont believe that was Harts first choice. Cheek needs to get with the program and this lady UT Knoxville | Office of the Provost just flats needs to go back to california.

The Gruden thread to me is just like the Shannon threads. A bunch of out of nowhere insiders regurgitating the same thing to each other and slowly more and more believe it as fact. The funny thing is people like LWS and skeeter who have proven their salt go the other way as they did with Shannon but everyone wants to believe the dream.

Stick with the odds here.

I agree. Everything I've read tells me the possibility (however remote) of Gruden died weeks ago. Folks over there are not going to know what to do with themselves when Gruden doesn't come here.

Hate ole OCI jumped on the bandwagon. I enjoyed his info in the past, but it's made me question how good it really is.

I think it is telling that those that claim "insider" status on the booster side generally agree Gruden is a legit option. Those on the AD side aren't sure. I think it is entirely possible that the boosters could be doing the leg work for Hart (maybe at his bidding) while Hart maintains plausible deniability. Given the contract numbers being thrown around, and the financial situation of the AD itself, I read between the lines and don't find it that unreasonable that a Gruden-type hire could be in the works.

I thought it was bogus until the two people I trust the most with info regarding such a thing independently told me Gruden was happening. Their timelines for events thus far have been spot on. One of these guys knows because he's footing some of the bill.

Yeah, I don't mean any personal offense to you in the least. I trust you pass along what you hear. I just doubt the folks that are telling you that. I wonder if people are getting excited about possibilities and jumping to conclusions that aren't there.

All the rumors linking Gruden to NFL jobs plus the reports from Hubbs and others that Gruden is pretty much off the table make me think the possibilities are slim.

I'm sure Hart was a good salesman when asking for Gruden money. Probably told boosters it was basically done.

OCI why did you make that thread and say gruden already had an offer on the table and go into detail? Do you honestly believe that?

Not bashing..honestly just wondering if you still feel the same about it.

apparently, the job is not attractive due to the way fulmer was handled, how hamilton jacked around with other coaches even though kiffin was hired, and PRESUMPTIVELY firing dooley after 3 seasons.

We certainly have the fanbase, facilities, and tradition to do well, but i suspect a lot of coaches will say thanks but not thanks. Can't get the big things taken care of, it just isn't going to happen. The only positive thing that has happened is Strong has said he would listen to our offer, but looks like at least 4 mil, and on top of that he is going to get a match from his AD, so I doubt he is coming.
