Imo, his recruiting rankings and lack of competition over the years strips the "home run" title away from him. He is an excellent gameday coach however, and i think he is a good evaluator of talent. Just because i don't think he is a "home run" doesn't mean he can't get us to the promiseland.

I agree. Although I think Stong will be tough to get. Maybe we can wave enough money in his face to make it hard to refuse. He's never going to do anything of consequence in the Big East.

But realize some of these folks do have all their stock in Gruden and I don't know if the guys with sources are making it up or just very misinformed, but Gruden will coach in the NFL. He's not going to come here. We need to move on and focus on coaches we may actually be able to get.

I was joking. I understand your point and like the fact you are saying you will happy with less than your definition of a home run. I think gruden is the only shot we have at your home run coach.

I get that. Makes sense. I am one who thinks the UT job should command the best of the best, so I want a homerun, not saying Strong would be one of my top choices but I wouldnt feel the way I did when we hired Dooley either. I understand that 1 possibly undefeated season isnt a huge body of work, and there have been many coaches who looked like cant miss hires at one point (Edsall, Holtz, Krags, etc) who were flash in the pans.

There just trying to clean up the PR mess the behind the scenes. Stuff is all about Wrapped up with the verbal stuff. All that left now is for No one in the AD Office to screw it up on the PR side and keep blowing smoke everywhere else. Gruden knows what he is doing and If the Contract is Signed in December then Hart will look like a freaking Hero for keeping everyone from knowing the truth. I know some you seen the post I made early today and I was then and am now just passing on what I was told. Dad just came by and told me the rest of the Story I see no way it was fake or made up. Just passing on another tid bit I got if I receive anymore I will pass it on. Again no insider don't claim anything just want Gruden here just telling you what the Booster/Owner of the said car dealerships my dads boss told him Today

The guys who post that he is coming also cite they have sources... so are you saying you have them that he is not coming or just pulling this out of the air???

If you want or believe we get another coach go to their thread and post it there... I bet they want to read you information

This. Haslam, Anderson, and Cheek had a conversation last night during the reception for the BOT, and Cheek is beginning to get it. Things are happening to appease Gruden's requirements. Look for a couple new academic majors in the near future.

Darn right it is. I've had girlfriends that pretend to like sports, but when they couldn't tell me what "Spider 2 Y Banana" was, I kicked them to the curb. :)

My mom was the sports nut of the family, and would always put my dad to shame when it come to sports knowledge.

I agreed with everything until you said this. You don't know for a fact that he's not coming. You seriously doubt it, and you don't believe the rumors, but you don't know for a fact. I don't know for a fact either, but the people reporting it are solid people, so i choose to listen.

He tells me that I know more about sports than a lot of men and that's when I tell him to not get carried away..He will respond by saying that he is serious...I just say "OK"...:birgits_giggle:
