Guys like Skip Holtz are in same conference as UL and doing much less and had more to work with when he arrived imo. Also, Strong can and would recruit well in Florida and has strong SEC ties. I want Gruden to be our coach and will be disappointed with anyone else initially, but Strong would be fine with me if we swung and missed on some big names.

Petrino didnt exactly leave UL in great shape and Kragthorpe was ill suited for the job and left it depleted. Strong has had just 1 opportunity as a HC, and so far he has done very well.

Definitely not down on Strong I just would rather see at least another season or two of success before I can get excited about him. I think he's doing a great job at Louisville. I just wonder if he could transfer that over the SEC and UT.

I can see this side of the argument as well, I would say Petersen would be a "home run" and Gruden or Kelly being a "grand slam". IMO i don't think Patterson or Strong are home runs. In football terms, I think Strong could be a screen pass that goes for an 80 yd touchdown, does that make sense?

I won't be crushed.... I don't really care if we get gruden. I just want UT to win football games.

Thanks, LurtzVol for your information. You and other posters put information on the board and it's up to the rest of us to figure out what we want to believe from that information. That's what it comes down to, what we choose to believe. I'm seeing a positive pattern on here for the hiring of a superstar coach. Others may not. But I'm not trying to tell anyone what to believe. We're not going to know anything officially until Dave Hart stands in front of a microphone and announces it. Thanks again.

I can't speak for others, but I would be ecstatic if we hired Strong, and would be happy with Patterson. If we shoot low and end up with Dykes or Smart, then i'll be pissed. Not everyone puts ALL of their stock into Gruden, man.

so anyone know if the BOT meeting, have any positive impact as far as us being able to attract a big name coach?

O great ..... another person who has only my best interest at heart, who's only purpose for posting in this thread their negativty is to protect and serve me.

I wish I had been geen there at the court room when he was appointed my guardian, so I could have huged his neck.

I dont think you are wrong at all. I would not call Strong a "homerun" hire. I wouldnt call him a bad hire either. I would call it a good hire, but not my top choice. I just think he gets a bad rap on here by many who say "he hasnt played tough schedule". There are very few 9-0 coaches in FBS. Period.
