I can't believe any of you would be willing to stick to your guns after what all you've been wrong about and flying in the face of everyone connected to the situation. This thread is pathetic.

I don't believe that at all Bruin.... but I do believe there are home run hires that are different type home runs.

There are those that are hit with the bases empty and those that are grand slams.... Gruden would be a grand slam.... I don't know who I think (other than maybe Saban) who I could say was also a grand slam

Respectfully disagree, and am baffled that so many are down on Strong. Yes he coaches in bad conference, but has re-built UL in short order, and few coaches go undefeated in ANY conference. Meyer wasnt playing difficult chedules at BG and Utah, nor was Tressel at YSU. Brian Kelly wasnt playing Goliath's at CMU or Cinci either. Guys like Skip Holtz are in same conference as UL and doing much less and had more to work with when he arrived imo. Also, Strong can and would recruit well in Florida and has strong SEC ties. I want Gruden to be our coach and will be disappointed with anyone else initially, but Strong would be fine with me if we swung and missed on some big names.

Petrino didnt exactly leave UL in great shape and Kragthorpe was ill suited for the job and left it depleted. Strong has had just 1 opportunity as a HC, and so far he has done very well.

When we drove in to Atlanta on the Thursday before the NC State game, we passed the Kennesaw St. sign. Just kinda off hand I muttered "Hey, we play them for our first basketball game in November."

My fiancé just laughed and said "Get help."

It did not help my cause that I had just mentioned I forgot the date I proposed to her on.

Great post. Gruden grand slam. Urban 3 run homer, peterson 2run homer, and strong solo shot.

I may be 100% wrong, but when I think of a homerun hire, I don't think about Charlie Strong. If UT decides to get another head coach, and if they E'ff it up and get a lousy coach, UT could be mediocre or worse for the next 15-20 years, IMO.

I can see this side of the argument as well, I would say Petersen would be a "home run" and Gruden or Kelly being a "grand slam". IMO i don't think Patterson or Strong are home runs. In football terms, I think Strong could be a screen pass that goes for an 80 yd touchdown, does that make sense?

It's like a train wreck. I can't look away. I have to check this thread several times a day. The bad part about it is you have really gullible people buying into the crap you're spewing and they are going to be absolutely crushed when Gruden doesn't come here.
