If you get a wild hair and decide to start "the wave", be sure you have help. One person doing the wave in a stadium the size of Neyland can be a sad experience, even if the stadium is 1/2 full.

Hey we had the wave going for 2.5 times around the stadium last Saturday! You had to look hard to see it at times except in the NE corner but it was there.lol:

I feel like the guys in this thread are not out for a pat on the back. The reason I enjoy this thread so much is because they are trying to give us accurate info. That's difficult with a situation that changes. I feel bad for making a assumption about LWS. The person I spoke with last night is a close friend of mine. I had no idea he knew LWS.

I thought that was the way you see it too... Time will tell, ....

There are some who come into this thread and seem to want to end it...etc. ... personally it has been a real thrill for me and my boring life...ha ha

Just throwing this out there, maybe Larry keeps saying 5% just because he was told to quiet some of the rumors out there and feed that information to the talk radio media (Ainge, ect). Larry has never said he won't be coming, just there is a slim chance so he's correct either way.

I find it curious that so many people come in here questioning what are, by the very nature of this threads existence, rumors and speculation.

No matter how much somebody represents something as fact, THERE IS NO NEED TO QUESTION THEM ABOUT IT.

You do have to admit this on the surface seems a little far-fetched. You believe what you believe - I'm good with that. I do however, think people believe things because they really want them to be true. Not saying you do, but others here for sure.

I will not believe he is our coach until I see him behind the podium. I will say that I do believe that Jon Gruden has had at least a meaningful conversation about being the coach at UT. Just too much being said and never seen a denial by the man. If this stuff was just flat out wrong, there is too much chatter for Gruden to stay silent.

Forget about Gruden for just a second. There are quite a few names that would be home run type hires. All is far from lost if by chance we aren't able to lure Gruden here.

I agree. Firing Dooley is a huge first step. If we dont get Gruden its not the end of the world, there are guys out there that can get us to the next level.

I apologize if we aggravate you with our optimism. I'm sure there are hundreds of other threads that could use some of your expert patronizing or life lessons.

I dont claim to be an insider and dont want to be. There are a lot of folks that have info from different sources. With that being said after todays conversations with friends I believe that Charlie Strong will be the next head coach at TN. Not to pour water on the Gruden thing but it is just a lot easier coaching in the NFL dealing with players. The move today by the BOT is a sign in the right direction, but this is a damn mess. In the end I do believe that Gruden is an NFL guy and there are some good openings coming up soon.


I'm hopeful but not optimistic.

I would be perfectly fine with Strong, he might be the hottest candidate in America right now, could be our Meyer without all the d*ckheadedness.

Not trying to be either unfair or unrreasonable here... may come off that way....but I believe we are getting Gruden, he believes we are getting Strong.

He may be correct, I could be wrong ( I of course don't think so) but my point is this. I don't go into the Charlie Strong thread and post there that Gruden will be our next coach, although that is my thoughts.

The thing that gets me is that LWS is saying that the boosters want a big name/splash hire, who else fits the bill other than Gruden? Strong and Patterson would be good coaches, but they're not "home runs".
