Official Jon Gruden Thread VI

I realize this is THE Gruden thread, but for those with discussions of Patterson:
SIAP Move if needed.

Pete Roussel of CoachingSearch.com has been informed that TCU head coach Gary Patterson has now emerged as the leading candidate for the Arkansas head coaching job.

Patterson has been the head coach at TCU since 2000, and TCU just joined the Big 12 this season. Patterson has a 115-33 career record at TCU.

In 2009, Patterson was named Coach of the Year for leading his Horned Frogs to a 12-1 record, but he one-upped himself the very next year by running the table at 13-0 and winning the Rose Bowl against Wisconsin.

Former Ole Miss, Auburn and current Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville has long thought by some to be a leading candidate at Arkansas.

Patterson is a defensive-minded coach, and he would be a terrific hire for the Hogs if this deal were to get done.

But the question still remains: would Patterson actually take the job at Arkansas? It’s easier to win in the Big 12 at TCU than it is at Arkansas, playing the likes of Alabama and LSU every year.

Arkansas media tweeting Patterson has accepted the job

his athleticism is ABSOLUTELY NFL ready. His ability to defeat defenders, his size, and the fact that he will not qualify with grades next year = HIGH NFL grade.

he is 6'4 220 runs a 4.4 and can take it to the house every time he touches the ball. scouts are salivating at his potential. Route running is why NFL coaches get paid millions to coach.

Nailed it!

This. Moss wasn't polished when he entered the league.

So to recap..we have 8 four star players starting on d...a couple of potential first round draft picks on offense....future pros on the o-line and we are 0-5 in SEC...just wanted to clarify.

That's the reason Fooley deserves another year! JK, don't have a cow man

Sure a booster could tell them it's a done deal just like they could tell anybody else. They also could tell something that never happens like palardy. You tell us when you have confirmation when their info is correct and when it isn't. While you at it tell us who has good info in this thread and who doesn't. A great deal of us have booster contacts. Most of us have been told incorrect info at some point. Clear up the confusion please!

I am not the one judging information. That is your specialty. You seem to be discounting what everyone else says because you haven't heard it. Maybe your booster buddies won't tell you because they are afraid you will run to your keyboard with it.

i love watching CP play, he is so dynamic, but UT doesn't deserve an athlete like him, given what we have been through. He picked us over UGA, LSU, and Arkansas. I think he is what we all wish most recruits would be, in love with UT for the school, city, not JUST the team, and an amazing athlete.

I heard a VERY similar thing from someone who talked directly to the Bray family a few weeks ago!!

Even if Dooley is here, which I doubt none of those 33 are close to NFL ready especially CP. He has all the ability and athleticism in the world but right now couldnt run a good route if his life depended on it. He definitely needs to come back his SR and once he polishes up his route running he will be an easy first rounder. If he leaves this year he will cost himself a nice signing bonus and who knows how much he would lose on his first contract going from a potential future first round guy to probably late second but most likely 3rd rounder this year. Still dont think Bray is mature enough to be an elite or even good NFL QB. A guy like Gruden or some other coach that is knowledgeable and will be a disciplinarian towards them and not let them act like they own UT would benefit him and Hunter greatly. Because Bray wont get away acting like he does now in the NFL. Hunter could be the closest who is ready but he still drops way too many passes and acts like he is
afraid to get hit. Hunter just needs to toughen up if he wants to play professionally, he tries to avoid contact at every opportunity and that wont fly when he starts getting checks to play.

how does he come back when he is failing a class and has a D in the other?

He may deserve better coaching but why does UT not deserve him? This program deserves CP and any other dynamic player that comes here!!!
