Will someone please explain to me how keeping Dooley in place helps make a homerun hire? I can't see any logic there? If anything, it hurts, because you can't negotiate anything official and you can't cast a wide net, because everything has to be kept quiet.
Maybe there is a great name out there who would be interested, but you aren't talking to him? Maybe he'd give you a nudge if he knew for certain you were looking? Most coaches wouldn't want to discuss a job in depth until the old coach is let go.
