Thanks for this B.

I agree with you. It seems there is a large push to "shift" this thing to the way it should be. Like having a vertebrae out of alignment, you have to pop it back in before the rest of the body can adjust.

The meeting Friday about shifting the AD

The talk about Cheek, being on the academic side of things with no clue about how to maintain a healthy balance for the AD

The talk about Hart, with his Alabama ties, and possibly bringing in Sal, "maybe" well intentioned but not a smart move, or maybe intentioned to hold down what could have been a great year...dunno...

There seems to be a good push to get all this run by the "homegrown" so to speak...and dare I say it???...maybe an AD run by Fulmer?? or some other TN faithful...

Could be wrong...just musing...but thanks anyway Boro, keep it coming...Im not done yet...wont be till we see him him at the podium or see the official decline.
Fulmers name has been mentioned. I don't like that idea, but many lettermen do.

"Officially"? Who did that?

LOL.

I partially agree that Ainge could be trying to drive ratings up, but no one can deny he is about as connected as one can be to the program (as far as a former player is concerned). He and TB have been saying for weeks that this JG rumor had friction and now Ainge is saying it isn't happening. I am still a believer 100% but this is odd to me. I want to see if TB backs off now or if he stays with his stance. No one can deny that ratings aside Ainge has heard something to change his stance.

If you believe in misdirection then since he was one spouting "friction/traction" then he'd be a prime guy to throw off the trail. Just thoughts to shed some hope.

otoh, when has anything went really well with a UT coaching search? Lulz. Ainge could just be playing the odds plus Gruden could see an opportunity in the NFL he likes.

I think most of this is coming from Ainge, who has been on board with JG coming. Hope positive news come soon. Not a good way to start off monday morning.

Not it's not,I agree..Good thing I don't listen to Ainge or Basilio or I would be going crazy too..I just stick to the insiders like Jay,Boro,DTO, and Oldvol and go with it..Until I have a reason to not believe, I'm still believing.

You all haven't lost any credibility in my eyes..That still holds firm...I was just wondering why people were freaking out.

But why has bcarter backed off?

I haven't completely backed off my hopes, just am continually getting negative messages last night and now into this morning. Saying I am 50-50 is being very optimistic. It is becoming increasingly apparent as the morning goes along that something happened that is not positive. Ainge is more keyed in than a lot of you think imo.

I never said it was done, but that it was in the works and very close. SOmething happened, and I bet (not info) it is concerning the rigid academic standards that make it hard for UT to recruit against SEC schools and UT's unwillingness to get in line with the Bamas and LSUs.

Its a damn shame to have a 5 star lining up across from you that cannot play for your team because of a different set of standards.

Refresh my memory. Who sets those?

Agreed - When did these standards get changed?

Our biggest problem:

Chancellor: University of Florida
Athletic Director: Florida State/Alabama
Head Coach:Georgia/Alabama

We have tried to become someone else.

TIFWIW....I was just told by one if my guys, a letterman, that Cheeks and Hart are both targeted....and have been since summer. Cheeks first, Hart sometime thereafter. This goes far beyond football.

This is the second time he's told me this. Cheek is obviously most pressing. Hart wouldnt happen until after all the coaching stuff is settled. There is a large faction of lettermen and boosters that want them both gone.

Again...TIFWIW.

Does anyone know who may be there as a new AD? Per sonally I think Charles Davis should be a candidate. Great integrety, knows college football inside and out. Intelligent man and well respected.

If this is true...and it could very well be, we are in seriously deep dodo. That would be a very deep wound that has the kind of infection that maggots thrive on and ultimately eat feed themslves from the inside out and become airborne house flies.

Care to elaborate? Just curious on your thoughts

Personal feelings. I still believe he started the ball rolling to where we are today. I don't believe he is qualified to be an AD....he's a coach. I'm afraid he would be very heavy handed with the football team because of that.

On the other hand, what I am told is some would like to hire two AD's with different roles....Fulmer, to glad-hand and raise money, and another known name to be the administrator. I might be ok with that.

For those who are saying this is all b/c of the Ainge comments, no. Larry (LWS) said a few days ago he was hearing that it wasn't likely. Others also backed away from their stance prior to this morning.

Personally my gut says there's a power struggle going on and it's Hart and Cheek vs. the Old Boy guard. I wonder if there is truth to the rumor that Hart chose Sunseri. It would explain a lot.

But I can tell you with confidence if that's the case, Gruden isn't coming near UT anytime soon.

I should have said says on the record, but the sentiment is the same. People who were once more positive have lately been less so. Everyone that is other than some posters on a message board who claim to have sources. No offense to Boro ect. but there is always the chance you're being misled or fed bad info.

I would be cool with Fulmer as AD if he will let the football coach do his job. That would be my only concern. I do think he'd tell Cheeks to hang himself.

Not necessarily true at all. If we had a NC winning former vol coach sitting around at another school then I'd better understand the point.

This sounds plausible if anticipated shift happens. Is that an incorrect assumption?
