Jim Haslam Sr. Comments

He may have been laughing because he has 2 aces and 2 kings in his had and it is his turn to draw.

If it really was that long of a laugh, that's a bit telling. If there were legit negotiations taking place, they want/need to keep it under wraps. And he's right, there's just too much of the season left to be show their hand this early.

Lol. That's probably what he meant.

"The season isn't over. We still have time to convince Gruden!"

Delusional.

How does beating 4 weaker opponents show improvement? The acceptance of mediocrity among our fan base is quite frightening!

7-5 is better than 6-7. It's not complicated.

Improvement doesn't mean we're where we want. Improvement means that we're closer than we used to be.

Oh shut up and gtfo

Dooley is a good coach.

Maybe he isnt SEC good

But he is a good coach.

Im sick of people calling him names and saying he cant coach.

95% of coaches today would crumble with our schedule year end and year out.

dooley is not a good coach, his record proves it. ive seen so many bad plays and players looking lost out on the field that the fact you say he is a good coach must mean youve checked out of the last 3 years of vol football. we might as well be a rugby team because most of the time we just look like a pile of guys out in the middle of the field scrambling around trying to figure out how to get our hands on the ball.

Looks like there doing pretty good to me with the Sr. and Jr. he recruited.

You silly rabbit, no one said that he could not recruit. All we said is that he is not an S.E.C. caliber coach.
Now that he has the players that he recruited, what is he going to do with them????

Dooley isn't going anywhere any time soon.

its a process..we are in the middle of a process.

And 3 years isn't that long... sorry.. Its not..

yes it's a process., next year we will be 0-6 in the SEC (if that doesn't happen this year).

improvement isnt only winning 2-3 sec games a year, if we accomplish that this year. we wanted the old coaches fired if we lost 2-3 sec games a year but yet there are people on here now that praise dooley? give me a break.

So in your opinion
Mediocrity= Acceptable

For the time being, yes. If we are on the way to being a top team, then beginning at the bottom and moving to the top, we have to pass mediocrity (Music City Bowl)
on the way to the top. You usually can't go from 5 - 7 to 9 - 3, you have to take baby steps.

Guess what? when you accept Millions of dollars and choose this life...you subject yourself to a little name calling and then some...(FAN=FANATIC) for a reason..

Go Troy?

Oh, I am just kidding. If Dools can win these final four games, it does show improvement. I fully support the team. Go Vols!

It shows we are the best of the average teams in the conference. Always support the team....this is true. But a coach is a paid employee to provide a winning product on the field.....nothing more. We owe him nothing....he owes UT to prove he is worth paying $1.8 a year to be the head coach here.

I saw Jim Haslam Sr. at the Dailey and Vincent bluegrass concert at Maryville college tonight. I worked up the nerve to go up to him and ask about the JG situation. I just came out and said, "Are we going to get Gruden?" He responded with a laugh that lasted about 30 seconds. I then said, "I guess that means NO." He said, "No one knows, but remember one thing. The season is not over yet. Just remember that. The season is not over yet." I am not really sure if we can read into it or not, but I thought that was a very interesting response. BTW, he was a VERY nice gentleman!

I don't think you read anything into it. The statement stands on it's own. Especially with the emphasis.

I would have followed that laugh with a straight face, and replied, "Well, I think we all hoped Coach Dooley would pan out, but it's time for Tennessee to get this Head Coaching situation fixed and ASAP.

After all, the Head Coaching position is the motor that drives the vehicle for the entire Athletic Department. If the engine's not humming, nothing's moving. And that's exactly where we are right now. Going nowhere."
Well, aren't you just the big ballsey advice giver.:eek:hmy:

Big talent makes big names................Dooley=inferior talent.............but improving.:tease2:

So the definition of improvement is beating the teams that you're supposed to beat? And I'm sick of hearing about being close to beating UF, Bama, UGA and the rest of the better teams, this isn't college horseshoes and close isn't worth a damn in this game, either win or else.

If you care about beating anybody who matters in the SEC, that season is over. If you're looking forward to watching our playmakers pad stats against bad teams to help them draft higher, this is your time.

And by the way, all this negative Dooley sh!t has probably cost us 2 five star commits.

Way to help solve the talent gap Vol "fans".:Bbiteme:

Can you please explain why Tennessee has to go through a "process" which apparently includes going 3 straight years of 0-5 to start SEC play when Hugh Freeze can step in and win more SEC games at Ole Miss in 4 games than Dooley has won in two years? How come Ole Miss or Vandy didn't have to go through this same "process" you speak of when they changed coaches?

Is it part of the process to not know how many players are on the field or not know what to do with timeouts?

I don't care what we do about bottom tier SEC schools and no-namers from around the country. Your arguments don't take the legacy of Tennessee football into account. We're 0-15 against the teams that matter. Everything else we should win anyway, even during a bad season.

EVEN SOME CRUMMY TEAMS PUT TOGETHER A GOOD GAME AND BEAT SOMEONE THEY SHOULDN'T!!!!!!!!!

GET HIM OUTTA HERE!
