Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

Boro, do you know if the MOU has been fully negotiated or is it still being negotiated? If fully negotiated, I assume Gruden has indicated he will sign it at a given time? I also assume UT is now ready to sign it as well?

So the same people that claim JG to tenn needs to be kept a secret from the media think its funny to tweet about fake sightings. I guess I am too old to understand

Not the same people. The station Ainge is on is not affiliated with the University at all. They are very independent in the information they bring, because they are not dependent in the AD for access. The other sportstalk station is the VolNetwork flagstation. They are linked, and largely controlled by the AD.

This is why Ainge and Basillio have been able to speculate about thus as much as they have.

...or as Tony B. would call it state run radio..

I don't know if there is a signature or not. Doesn't matter....he has what he wants in principle, and so do we.

Thanks...yeah, I looked up some stuff...the Corona deal is just an extension of the Corona/MNF deal that's been in place. It would likely just end when Gruden and MNF part ways.

The Hooters deal is in correlation with Gruden's FFCA. The Gruden/Hooters partnership donates proceeds from the sale of merchandise to highschool athletes. It's a pretty smart set up for Gruden. Still, I wonder how many Vol fans, particularly UT women employees, lady vol fans and others would view that partnership. I'm sure that could be worked with some way.

As you mention, most endorsements for UT coaches are run through UT channels.

Hooters aside, Gruden is a much different than the typical coach in that he is a national celebrity. It might be to UT's advantage to allow him a little leeway, but I'm totally out of my depth here.

I suspect there will be some level of give and take on both sides. If not mistaken, UT is about the only if not the only SEC school that doesn't allow outside endorsements. I can understand having a standard to meet. I don't necessarily see the head coach at UT peddling used cars as a great thing. Not a terrible thing, but I have seen Orgeron's Hummer commercials. Not good PR, imo. But, if this is a deal-killer, which I don't think it will be by any means, any UT administrator that would kill a deal over it should also be immediately terminated. After all, we're talking about Jon F'n Gruden here (that was for you smokey).

Hunter Army Air Field in Savannah. I'm not in the Army my wife is. She was at Ft Stewart for 5 years and its like 25 min from here.been at Hunter for the last 2

Savannah better than that crap-hole Hinesville. Congrats on the upgrade.

Yep, too old. Might as well take you off to the glue factory.

:jpshakehead:

Too old and been told I live in a no fun zone. Regardless if JG wants this kept under wraps the people in the know aren't helping. Even the mother in law telling its a done deal to co workers. A lot of stuff not adding up for me.

Oh ok. Well thank her from me for her service.

I'm not in service my self but close to fort Chaffee. It's where Elvis got his hair cut and ghost hunters did a show.

Base is all but closed except for training and black op stuff. DOE runs out of here and the seals train on the river.

Thanks! The part about Corona ending with MNF has me nodding my head . Timing fellas timing.

Every body knows he is going to arkansas. They hired him in April. And Tennessee is broke. Geeeeezzzz people. - Sarcasm-

I want to see Gruden selling Golden Flake chips like the other conference coaches. Always loved watching Spurrier do that!

Lol , that's not saying much. I hope this isn't going to last much longer. I don't like either place to be honest. I hope to be back in Tenn in the next year . She's been here her since she's been in and all they do is deploy here.

Yes....this has been a more complicated negotiation than a normal hire. More moving pieces.

I can only guess. Folks on here need to realize that this is not just about Gruden and UT. Here are some other issues I can only guess exist:

ESPN. Has to find a replacement for Gruden, probably get approval from the NFL, then negotiate and sign a contract with the replacement.

NFL. See above.

Gruden's Sponsors. There might be clauses in their contract with Gruden that it is contingent on him being with MNF. He might need to renegotiate those contracts.

Dooley. UT needs to try to negotiate his buyout at a lower amount.

Dooley's Assistants. Same as Dooley.
