You cannot argue that finding an exception to a rule disproves the general rule. There are always exceptions to almost every rule if you look hard enough.

I am speaking in generalities. As a general PR rule, you do not address speculation unless the speculation is actually severely damaging to you or your brand.

Who knows why Saban did what he did. I can't speculate on speculation.

Look, I am not saying that the silence proves/disproves anything, I am just saying not to rely on silence from key players as any sort of proof one way or the other.

NO NO that wasn't my point with Saban. I was just pointing out how stupid it was of him to lie!

Thank you.

I've been a Gruden fan since he put on my beloved Silver and Black and have followed his career. Anyone saying he would "only" coach in the NFL hasn't been paying attention to Jon. He's stated several times over the years that he loves the college game and makes a point of studying star players and what makes them special. Case in point... Jon decided to study and learn the spread offense, going so far as to visit with teams across the country that successfully run it. This Guy.. is a student of the game in all ways.

Funny how Tampa fans say he ran the program into the ground, but Oakland fans would take him back in a heartbeat.

Not really. Add Derrick Green, A.J. Turman, Marquez North, Jaelen Strong, Reeve Koehler, Toby Johnson, a couple stud LBs, Vonn Bell, and possibly Jalen Ramsey...plus there will be new names that previously showed zero interest in UT. Gruden will wow recruits unlike anything you've ever seen. His passion for football is infectious.

Yea, I think we would get some of those players even if Dooley stays. So to say that its a possibility for a top 5 class is an understatement.

You guys follow this stuff more closely than I do. Would love to land Green. No doubt he brings passion & energy plus UTs facilities and tradition is a great combination. Would love to see him knock his first recruiting class out of the park.

It's gonna be so damn nice to consistently see us in the top ten in the future. Starting 2014 all we gotta do is be top 4 and we gotta shot at the NC!! Gruden 2012 Go Vols

Monday as in day before yesterday and this was a call between one booster and Dooley not the conference call.

Thanks for clarifying. So DD just keeps building the reputation of being a polarizing figure, if that is true. I keep getting concerned something happens and a change isnt made but if he keeps up with rumored antics, I wont worry about that.

fwiw, I believe all the reports about DD and Gruden being done, just seems too good to be true so I am waiting for something to fall through. Horrible attitude, I know. I just want this over and Gruden in orange.

You mean Gruden, right? Green would be great too.

Last time I checked Tampa was still in Florida.. all the fans in that state are whack jobs.
but Oakland fans would take him back in a heartbeat.
The Raider Nation/Black Hole loves Chucky and there will always be a special place in his heart for them as well. Not sure the Crypt Keeper will ever be forgiven for getting rid of him.

What happened to Jon at Tampa is squarely on the Glazers. Sold the farm to get him because they had to have a SB to satisfy disgruntled fans. Got it and didn't give a damn about anything else afterwards.
