I wonder if anybody would be happy with this coach If we hired him? Just want you to see his record. Do you think this is a homerun hire?

Posting Gruden's record....

You should probably mention this is NFL games. Not scrub games that include annual cupcake games like a college coach. So, to answer your question, .540% in the NFL, would I hire him?

Absolutely. If you can win more than you lose against the best players in the world, you're a pretty good coach!

If that is NFL stats, then yes those are good numbers.
Just look at the league this year, few teams much better than 500

Abso-frickin-lutely!!!

Spurrier was 12-20 & Saban 15-17 against that same competition. So we getting the best of the three!

Jon Gruden is who you are talking about, and yes because NFL is different since gm controls what players you get and you have salary cap to deal with. Yes, I want Jon Gruden btw. Nice try though

Depends on whether or not he won a Super Bowl and could relate to young people in recruiting. It also depends on whether his losses were to the Atlanta Falcons instead of the Kentucky Wildcats. Apples and Oranges!

And OP also isn't incorporating the fact that the TB Bucs were horribly run by their GM and their Owner was more concerned with making money than spending it to be competitive. Giving up the 2002/2003 1st Rounds and 2002/2004 2nd Rounders hurt Tampa bay for many years to come. Gruden had to hold onto an aging defense that was eating up a huge portion of the TB's paltry allowance of cap and he also didn't run the team's draft.

But, you know, whatever. Facts and stuff.

His record indicates that he needed more time, had injury problems, had limited depth, had limited funding, had plenty of other excuses.

Don't be so "head in the clouds". 8-5 is a good enough record to hold him over for another 4 years. What kind of fan are you? One that expects to win and demands a quality product as a return for the money you're pumping into the program?

Yes, but who did Gruden beat in the Super Bowl? The Oakland Raiders! Who built that team? Jon Gruden! Get your facts and drop the "He won with Dungy's players." As you can see from this season of UT football, it doesn't matter the players you have and the talent you have, if you can't coach worth a flip, you're going to lose games. In the NFL nobody wins on talent alone.

And had it been Dooley isntead of Gruden, he still would find a way to lose. Dooley now has 3 classes under his belt and still excuses. What is he going to say hypothetically if he is here next year... Well we lost player x, y, and z to nfl so....
