Official Jon Gruden Thread IV

On the attendance subject, I think this weekend is homecoming. I would think/hope the attendance is good for this game. Also, if it is determined CDD is gone, then attendance wouldn't be a factor in him staying. So, no problem in going to the games guys/gals just to give a message to Hart. It's not going to make a difference so go ahead and support the team.......JMO

Didn't Kamara basically say somewhere that he would commit to Gruden sight unseen?

No, that was another phony twitter post, apparently. He did tweet "Gruden is going to TN?", but not the one that said if Gruden did he knew where he was going. Either that or he tweeted it and almost immediately deleted it.

To piggyback on that (calm down Arky people!), I think fundamentals would improve and penalties would decline. One of the really nice things about Kiffin's year was discipline on both sides of the ball for most of the year. Throw in a few really nice recruits and we will be up and winning..uh, I mean running...in no time.

I wonder what our record would be this year with Gruden and the potential staff that's been brought up? My guess would be 6-2 or 7-1.I think Ala would have been a loss but UF, UGA, Miss St and SC could have been wins. I know it doesn't matter but outside of Ala even Dooley has us close to winning the others.

Have you met my wife?

Me: Where do you want to go?

Her: I don't know. Where do you want to go?

Back and forth.....

That drives me crazy when my wife does that. Because if I ever do pick one, its always wrong. Then saying, but you said it didn't matter, doesn't help.

This is the fine line between business and personal feelings. Majors is VFL and wants UT to succeed and Dooley is in the way. Majors will do what it takes to be elite again.
Agree 100% .The Majors family is the first family of Tennessee football. Johnny loves Tennessee and will do whats best for the program.Love it that they involved him.Still one of the best big game coaches of all time.He might lose to Duke or Army but as a dog to a superior team Ill take him all day .

The silence has been the most baffeling thing to me in this whole situation, especially from Hart (with all the public rumors and outcries for Dooley's head)

personal note: Gman, I saw where you said you are 50, I am 61 and caught up in this like I was 22..ha ha ha ha

haven't missed a home game sense Dewey Warren...and Johnny Mills..... Now let's get
some Gruden :good!:

Awesome Coasty. That's dedication.

Exactly. I think we've finally gotten to the point where we both just start saying what we don't want until we whittle it down to one place. The only problem is that this method doesn't work when you're starving and every place sounds good enough.

Jeez, been there so many times. I finally just asked her to eliminate the ones she didn't want to to to. Made it a lot easier.

So you are saying the boosters like fly fishing....cool.

Does anybody else have Dish? I know Direct TV is the preferred provider on the board, but I have had nothing but good experiences with Dish.

Sounds like it was an ERGENt ummm make that urgent fly fishing trip.

My belief is he wants to be here for personal reasons, and may view this as his last coaching job. He is moving the family home.

I know the contract options are all lengthy, which is a good sign to me too.

Could the personal reasons be as simple as Jon wants to coach college and Cindy wants to live closer to family.

I read an article where Cindy said something along the lines of, the only college team she'd be happy with Jon coaching is UT. Plus, they're finally building a house on land they've owned for years.

Everyone knows if mamma ain't happy....

I try to get it over with before we get in the truck. Not always suscessfu, but I try.

I don't care must be in the official women's handbook that I've never seen before! I need instructions!

Only thing better than Gruden wanting to come here is that he wants to be here long term. I like it!!

Question about recruiting

Since Gruden is not an employee of any university, would it be against the rules for him to call a recruit or a recruits coach and build a relationship?

Probably a question for one of the recruiting forum regulars.

First - I am completely on board with Gruden. Second - do you guys see it as a PR issue if Dooley were to some how win out these remaining games and then announced that he is terminated? Does that have any impact at all in thsi situation - especially if nothing is "formal" unitl post KY?

Tn coaching job is based on wins over UGA, FL, Bama, Lsu, UsCe, etc not UK, Vandy, Mizz, Akron, Troy, Ga State............

If he talked about Tennessee probably. Would be using his fame to sway them to the Vols.

Also, that would be weird. Calling up kids for 'no reason' lol

Do we know for sure that Cindy's mom still lives in Tennessee? I know that her father is deceased. At one point, there was a step-father in the picture. Not sure if he is still alive or what?
