He also gave up the most points in bowl history to WV, no thanks !
Been traveling today. In between flights. Anyone willing to summarize the day? Anything new? Thanks. You guys rock.
Spurrier and Saban have COLLEGE coaching records that would show they would likely be successful.
Saban had turned Mich St. into a contender for the Big10 title and then he won a NC at LSU. So yes Saban was a "Homerun" hire for Alabama.
Spurrier won the ACC Championship at Duke, NC at Florida, and now has made South Carolina a SEC Champion contender. So yes Spurrier would be a "homerun" hire.
I don't know of another coach out there that matches these two.
But Gruden's success or experience is in the NFL. Do you know of an NFL coach that was successful in college?
Bill Walsh
Butch Davis
Gene Stallings
June Jones
Lou Holtz (one season w/Jets)
Al Groh
Forrest Greg
There are others who went back and forth from college to the NFL, not including all of them but Dennis Erickson and the like would be among them.
Point is there is no such thing as a "sure thing" but Gruden won in the NFL, he won a superbowl, he's been around these college kids as they go to the pros, he's got QB camps, every mom and dad is gonna know who this guy is...he hasn't coached in a while, so, if he chooses to, he'll have the "fire".
Sure, it's a crap shoot... with huge upside as opposed to where we are now which is just crap.
Sounds reasonable. Then again, he might ve wrong.FWIW, from LWS about an hour ago:
don't trust anyone who says they know..
I think assessments from both sides of Gruden situation are in progress. outcome of that is likley to dictate dooleys situation.
I wouldn't be surprised at something happening within days or it could go into the next week or two...
My personal opinion is that coach dooley is not likely to be here next season but I also understand that circumstances can change but don't think they have at this juncture..
Its been on about a week. Iposted this info yesterday. Also a chance Mrs. G might be in for Home Coming to meet with some gals she use to cheer with.Coldwell Banker-Wallace and Wallace Realtors of Knoxville is listed on the wife's favorites. I wouldn't have a clue how long it has been there though. Stalker, I know.
True, he had a terrible game against WV, but he is a great recruiter and wouldn't mind having him for a linebackers coach. Has strong Tennessee ties and if the rumors were correct, was real close to being our Defensive Coordinator this year.

Actually, Shelby County has its own assessor and registar site, and they don't charge. The site we were speaking of is through the state. If Gruden had property in Shelby County, I could loook it up right now. Nothing to do with money.
