Is it EVER ok to..........

NO WAY GOOD LORD!!!! What the h##l makes everyone think we could land a "homerun hire or returming coach"? Are we sure Dooley is even going to be fired? Why would anyone want thier team to lose, that is the stupidest thing I ever read on this sight. WOW.

I just cant understand the thinking behind this. Why root against us to lose? If things are as bad as everyone says then the loss will happen anyways. Why wish for it?

After the bama game i was very down on this team and dooley. I even made a thread on here admitting the "negavols" had been right and that dooley needs to go. It was an emotional reaction i regret making. I still feel this team is better than their record and i still have hope for us IF we win out and win a bowl game. Lose in november, regardless of situation or opponent, and thats it.

Dude, it's the end of October. By this point, we are what our record says we are. We're worse than all the relevant teams in the conference, but, pending November results, we might be better than a couple of the bottom feeders that we've basically become.

i don't know man. if given another 3 years, i think it's an even money bet that dooley can instruct the team on how many men are supposed to be on the field and where they are supposed to line up.

after consulting a farmer's almanac, you can't water bamboo that quickly.

it's science

Course, I guess if championships are what you are after, you guys are going to get rid of Muschump this year right?

I always think it's funny when people have to mention they are an alum of the university. Like it means their opinion is more important than someone that didn't go to UT. News flash....I don't care that you're an alum.

Generally alums are more interested and are vested in their schools. Non-alums are pulling for a team, not the school. Not saying that we want our school to win any more or less than you do, it's just that alums have a vested interest in the entire university.

In general I agree with this. For example, the Bruce Pearl arguments a couple of years ago were mostly split right down the middle -- alums wanted Pearl gone over the ethics violations; non-alums wanted to figure a way to keep him around. I would rather lose games than do things the wrong way.

Having said that, I have two degrees from UTK and I'd like to see Dooley fired tomorrow morning.

Well, I have two also and my two votes for playing the season out cancels yours.....so there!

Muschamp has more sec wins this season than dooley has had in his entire time at Tennessee.

Florida has a legit shot at 11 or even 12 victories this season.

Not moral victories, but actual victories.

I'll be honest, if it means cutting off the leg to save the body. Then yes. I would not actually root for the other team to win and be disappointed if we win.. but if it is the difference in keeping a dumbass and hiring a winner... Then definitely. Sometimes you have to think big picture.

I dont want the team to lose. However if it meant getting a coach that knows how to win.. I wouldnt exactly be heartbroken if they did lose.

This.

Dark Knight me.

Never, I get frustrated and vent but never could I wish us to lose. On gameday, the hair on my arms still stands up when I hear Rocky Top.

See, I don't even get mad. When Clowney stripped the ball at the end, I laughed.

I understand, my expectations are much lower than they were 10 years ago. There were times when I would be pissed off for days after a loss. Now I can go on with my day as if nothing happened after a loss. I do feel like all programs go through this and our day is coming again.

Want us to lose a game if it means the difference between starting over with a homerun hire or returning a coach that has proven to be unqualified for he job? In other words, if you knew winning Saturday meant Dooley returns regardless of what happens the rest of the year, and losing meant he would be dismissed at years end to be replaced with Gruden or whoever you consider a homerun hire, could you want us to lose??

I have to admit, it's debatable for me with no clear answer.

No. Never wish to lose...cheer for the Vols regardless, then hope, wish & pray for the best thing to happen in the long run!
VFL
GO VOLS!!

I feel like the way my friend describes KC Chiefs fans.

Bad war analogy coming but if you knew the loss of a battle would somehow correlate to increasing your chances to win the war, sacrifices are made. No question.

I agree to an extent, but its hard not to see all the improvement and not think how close we really are. We were a fourth quarter drive away from beating two teams that have been ranked in the top five this year, and if not for a fumble we would have beaten a top 15 as well. I dont know if dooley can get us over that hump, but i certainly dont think its as bad as what some are trying to say.

Sometimes 1 bad loss can lead to to a new coach and in turn lead to multiple big wins that would otherwise have been losses.

I get you but that is the story of Dooley. We are close but can't quite get it done. Have we improved, at some positions and facets of the game yes. Offense overall, we have improved. We also, don't fumble 1 out of 3 punt returns.

However, the defense has regressed bad this year. Lanier and switching to the 3-4 can be the issue but it's the last third of the season and players are still confused and out of position. We are on pace for the worst defense in UT history. Also, the kicking game has not improved. Punting is atrocious and we have missed 5 PAT's.

We are not across the board improving. If we were we would have the 2-3 close game W's. Almost only counts....
