Official Jon Gruden Thread III

Not according to Tampa sports talk radio. If Gruden comes back next year as a coach it will be for the Philadelphia Eagles replacing Andy Reid.

However with Gruden off the table...there may be a chance to get Skip Holtz if he gets canned at USF. :eek:k:

And Raleigh sports talk guys yesterday were saying its a legit possibility that we make a run at Cutcliff. The local guys just guess on everything outside their market.

You are being selective in your hearing. It's widely known on campus, and in the AD that Dooley is a grade A, #1 @$$hole.

Office people are not allowed to speak to him, issues with paint color in his office, compliments on his hair....the stories abound by those who work near him, and I know a couple.

I liked the guy, and was an apologist until the Akron game. I knew these stories, but they really didn't bother me because I liked Dooley's public persona, and the clean image he fostered for our program.

None of that changes what primadonna he is in person...by every account a tyrant. That is why he won't be retained in any capacity by this University.

Not long after Dools was hired, a friend of mine whose relative was employed by the AD in a capacity that included regular contact with the head coach told me that this person (who had liked working with Kiffin) "absolutely hated" Dooley, and couldn't stand to work with him. Not long thereafter the person resigned to take another job. You probably can figure out who I'm talking about without a lot of thought. Like you, I didn't worry much about it at the time--I figured he learned his inter-personal skills from Saban or something and that if he won big it wouldn't matter. And the truth is it probably wouldn't have--if he had won big. But I was surprised, based on his public persona, which is all I had seen at the time. Since then this, as you say, this has become fairly common knowledge.

I have never done this before,

And normally I wouldn't post something like this, but since everyone else has, here it goes....

I just received the following text from my cousin in Knoxville,,,,

"1)just got a text from my brother-n-law. he works at mcgee tyson airport. guess who he just saw getting off a private jet with a couple of suits from ut? Jon effing Gruden
2)
took off in a helocopter towards downtown. steve was ordered to deliver his bags to the lobby and there will be someone there to pick them up. this is freaking crazy!! doing all this while dooley is in south carolina...funny ****!"

Like I said , I don't do this kind of thing but my cousin just sent it to me and I told him to double check his bro in law isn't full of sh*t and he swears he's a legit dude.

Flame away

- Poster on VQ said this earlier. SIAP. What a gem. LOL.

Let me preface this by saying I know this probably should have gone into the JG thread(s). Mods merge at your discresion. I just wanted to give everyone the chance to read it, as those threads fill up fast and usually lack pertinence.

Ok, I don't have an "insider" like some people here claim to have. People who read my posts or know who I am (or don't know I suppose) know that.

This is "Friend of a friend" information; but if it it eases anyone's mind, I am skeptical with these things, and I 100% believe what I have been told. until today, I would have put the odds of getting Gruden at right around 10%, that number is closer to 95% now(for me).

Alright, as usual with these kinds of threads, take it however you will:

I know a guy who knows a guy who runs a prominant industry out of East Tennessee. He is on "the short list" of AD donors.

This friend of mine, who the day before swore up and down Gruden was just a pipe dream, shows me a little info.

Long story short, Dooley is done regardless of how this week plays out. But paid him to coach the year and that is what he is going to do. On Gruden, he(donor) said something to the effect of "Gruden is making staff calls at this point."
I know it doesn't sound like much, but I'm not one to just make this up. This happened last night. I know my friend has these connections, but, you never know.

All I know for 100% absolution is that my hopes are up despite all efforts otherwise.

I personally think OCI is Justin Bieber. So many teenage girls stalking him, or so it seems.

I was outcast to the flatlands of Florida for many years before finding my way back home. I followed the BUCs from day one. Your rant has no basis…. Look at what he did with the Raiders and journeyman QB Rich Gannon before arriving at TB.

You are misinformed about Guden's time at Tampa Bay. He quickly rebuilt Dungy's pathetic offensive using only castaways and journeymen players (RB Mike Pittman, WR McCardell, Wr Joe Jurevicius, TE Ken Dilger) . He won the stinking super bowl with "BRAD JOHNSON" as the QB..... in his first year as TB's coach.

Mike Alstott was the only pro-bowl talent on the offense. Heck CJG's coaching put Brad Johnson in the pro-bowl that year.... brief pause to let that soak in.... yep journeyman Brad Johnson in the stinking pro-bowl.

The owners are what "ran the Bucs into the ground". That and the price in draft picks that TB paid Oakland for CJG. 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks. Take away your high draft picks and have your owners mortgage everything including the Buc's future to buy Manchester United and you have the reason things went downhill. Heck they let Sapp, Lynch, S. Rice, McFarland and others go instead of renewing their contracts.

The last few years, CJG was trying to compete in the NFL with Kris Simms, and a 7th round rookie pick from Toledo Grukowski (sp?) as the starting qb.

Do some homework next time; your lack of insight caused me to post again. (I am trying to reach first place in the "years-on-site vs low-post-count" competition). You might have cost me a new toaster you Jack-Wagon…..

Best Wishes,
CH_V

Is your name John Lee Pettimore?
