This is probably obvious, but it seems to me that the "stuck with the little bastard" comment would lend some creedence to the possibility of a 10 year contract as opposed to a shorter one. Although 7 years is not small deal, either.

agree, but I hope that quote isnt part of introductory press conference

Ainge continues his very overt Gruden hints this morning.....saying the contract is for 10 years/ $50mil.

I had heard 7 years, but this coincides with what I was told that there was an interest on both sides for a very long term deal. It also affirms what I was told that Gru wants to be here for personal reasons.

Somebody posted an anonymous quote yesterday that basically said, "I hope this guy can coach, cause we're stuck with him for a long time."

That would shoot down all those saying that he wouldn't be here for the long haul and would be only using us for a stepping stone. Which is utterly ridiculous in the first place.

So the contract went from averaging $5.25M/yr, to $6.25M down to $5M?
I
And terms went from 6 years to 10 years? Damn.

Fortunately, I don't buy a word of any of this.

If your not buying, buh bye.

Just kidding. But it does go with the long term he is wanting, and the 6.2 was with incentives not base. But what do I know. I am a freaking knucklehead

So, he gets to live in the great state of East TN, coach his son and show him the ropes of coaching, and have family all around to enjoy it with? Sounds like a smart man to me. Let's get this party started!
