Official Jon Gruden Thread III

One last thought. It would make sense for the AD to refute any Gruden talk until they have a signed contract in their hands. If they got it out there that Gruden was as good as gold and it didn't happen, just imagine the riots and meltdowns....

Yeah I have but I went through an extremely heavy drug "experiment" since then. (Now I'm a drug counselor so I just call it my "hands-on training!" Nevertheless, many of my brain cells were decimated in the name of science!)

And I know my profile says I'm a car salesman... I need to update it but this thread has extended me zero time for such
trivial things...

Lol Peyton. Hands on training eh?

We are fighting the Vorg (half Vol fan half machine). The home ship is 990. The Vorg queen is Heather. They are trying to assimilate us but we are the holdouts fighting the good fight against a force very powerful. You can indentify Vorg by their code words.."I will hang up and listen", "That catch was made by Dustin Hunter"...check that Justin Huntsman" "I am an unbiased reporter not a fan" "I know better than you because I'm on the radio" "I just care about what the Lady Vols are doing" "Do you want to hear about the third team place kicker for LSU?" along with many, many others. If you don't hear these phrases you can also id them by their lack of passion for EVERYTHING in life. They will always carry a scowl if disagreed with and are always sexless.

LWSVol said no chance. He's also an insider but a lot of people think he doesn't know as much as he used to. Someone a few hundred posts back made a good point. The people with connections in the AD think there's no way this happens, while the people who's connections are boosters say it's happening.

Seems plausible.

I think there is a good chance it works out from what I've heard.
Regardless of what some think Saturday is very important for CDD. It's not over yet. (Reminder-I think he should be replaced)

I doubt raheem morris would but after talking with co-workers that are very good friends of pat morris (offensive line coach and friend of jon gruden) i know for a fact he is seriously considering his offer to coach with gruden this fall. He would not reveal if this was at tennessee or with the browns but only that gruden has spoken to him about this. He said that everything is being kept extremely quiet but that gruden is very likely to be coaching this fall and he is putting out feelers regarding his staff. Oddly, he said that the no state income tax in tennessee was very appealing to gruden but he also said he was considering his options. He specifically mentioned the browns as one of those options. This conversation came about yesterday after I came back from lunch and casually mentioned how the radio and internet were blowing up with gruden talk. My boss being from clearwater started talking to me and the next thing I know he is texting p morris to find out if he had heard anything since he is friends w gruden. Morris was vague in his intial reply but last night called and spoke to him about it. This of course is hush hush and i was told to keep it quiet so i hope to god that he is not on volnation!

So, if Jimmy Haslem is really this hot for Jon Gruden and willing to dump $5 million plus (or whatever) to help pay salary and buy outs, why doesn't he just hire Gruden to be the HFC for the NFL team he owns?

I bet his love for UT doesn't run as deep as his love for his billion dollar investment. Something here doesn't pass the sniff test. And all the time I've been following the hysteria at VolNation, 9 times out of 10 the hysteria winds up being for naught.

I respect SBV as much as anyone on the board and feel he isn't a self promoter or trolling, but I'll believe this when I see it.

Best answer is Haslam is not the only one spending money here. Thorton , Ergen and even rumors of Manning chipping in. They all are more interested in Tennessee than what Haslam is doing. Manning was sitting with these guys (including Haslam) Saturday.

Heard Jimmy Cheek was at Pilots corporate offices at 6:30 am Monday morning or at least that is what the sign in sheet said. TIFWIW

My hope is that he hires saban to be the gm/coach of the browns. My fear is that he IS going to hire gruden but for the browns.

hate to be that guy but anybody have cliffs from today? Anything good?

I'll just leave this here as a TIA

SBV and OCI stand by what they've said.

OCI said he believes Raheem Morris would be on Gruden's staff.

He said this today? I looked at his profile and he hasn't posted since the 23rd. Must have said it somewhere else. Last time I read his post where he said we were going to make Jon say no.

Thanks Slice. It's sounding more and more like we might see an uninspired effort Saturday, but will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Dooley stuff aside, I really hope this team does not roll over.

I can buy the multiple booster angle and believe it to be very plausible, but I just find it hard to believe Haslem wouldn't want him at the Browns for the same salary. And I get it that people say Cleveland sucks, but the fact remains that Gruden has always been an NFL man. Why would a coach who has won a Super Bowl, is the face of MNF, and still likely has NFL opportunities want to drop to college?

I think it's more likely that this is an agent play to get his name back out there as a serious coaching candidate and to leverage Tennessee's situation against other NFL teams that will have openings at the end of the season. Saying UT will pay him $5mil plus per year drives up his bargaining power.

I think Tennessee and its hungry fan base are all pawns in a scheme to get back in the saddle as a head coach in the NFL.

My .02. YMMV

Basilio saying that Hart is not doing the heavy lifting here (of course the big money is) and that the two sides will talk more this weekend with a resolution coming in the next 7 to 10 days. Dooley will remain the coach UNTIL they have a done deal.

I think somewhere in these 300+ pages somebody copy and pasted a post from LWS from the TOS. By the way guys.. we have a game in about 36 hours. Let's not totally forget why we are on this site. No matter what...
CARRY THE FIGHT

Uh...not so sure I'd be happy with Raheem Morris on the staff. The Skins secondary really sucks and that's his responsibility. The game winning TD that Eli threw to Cruz was NOT an isolated incident.
