some people have correct information, some people have wrong information. There isn't going to be an official confirmation until Dooley is gone. So believe which side you choose to believe and be happy with that.

Like somebody inside the program would tell Doug what's really going on so he can blabber about it on the radio. Folks he is coming...it's for real!

Last night I talked to a former all american offensive lineman who does some radio work in Knoxville. He is saying that a Gruden hire is just a rumor, same as four years ago. The only reason there is more conversation about it today is because more people want Dooley gone than wanted Fulmer gone 4 years ago.

Another guy I know in Memphis who is heavy into fundraising for UT in that city also agrees with that assessment.

I think all we know for sure is that Gruden would be interested in taking a look at UT. But then again he's dropped that line about so many other jobs in the past that you'll have to decide how much stock to invest in that.

As far as what Ainge says, I lost a lot of respect for him after the garbage he said on the air prior to the Bama game. He's a drug addict and I think he'll say anything to be considered relevant and get in on this action.

I would almost certainly think that if UT is firing Dooley that they would not just target ONE person as his replacement. This is another reason I put little stock in this whole Gruden thing. I think if Dooley was being fired there would be smoke coming from other camps as well, not just the Gruden camp.

If Dooley gets fired, and that's a big if because it could cost the university between 6 and 9 million dollars to get rid of him and his staff, the most likely scenario is that it would not be announced until the end of the season. If it were announced after the USC game, I would fully expect him to be allowed to finish out the season and if that happens there is almost no chance of UT announcing his replacement prior to Dooley's exit (meaning the end of the season).

I think that's the most rational way to look at this now.

There's no if to Dooley, he is gone. And no it wont cost the University. There's plenty of donors that. are willing to pay that. Im guessing after we lose to SC then he gets fired very quickly after. The team is in shambles and dont like or want to play for him. I hope Gruden is the next coach but if not Hart will find an adequate replacement. Kind of a Pansy thing to do with calling Ainge an addict. Call it to his face instead of a message board. He's clean now and has a good show. Really doubtful you have sources, im gonna trust Ainge's over yours.

No truer words...

As I said before...wait and see...then we will have three to four threads of eat crow from somebody...we'd better have anyway...

A couple of weeks ago Larry said Smart was Hart's guy, he hasn't been that solid since Fulmer was here.

Before donors made it clear that they wanted a big name or the $$ would stop flowing so freely in recent days, Kirby Smart was 100% going to be the next coach at Tennessee.

To be fair Larry has been saying for some time we would not hire nor go after a big name coach. I think the best way to put everything is that this is a very fluid situation, and the people who are confident in their thoughts are for a reason. Reputable posters are on both sides of the Gruden saga.

No need to come and bash them, and make them seem foolish for believing what someone trust worthy told them.

Things that have been said by all sides:
- Dooley is unless a miracle happens, or other guys saying no thanks.
- If Dooley is done then we will throw the house at Gruden.
- Gruden would be interested in the job.
- Money isn't an issue.

Those 4 things warrent the threads we have. If you think it is foolish to believe what these guys are posting then by all means don't check the thread. I still haven't found the option on here that makes you look in and post in threads that you think are pointless. Not to mention you come off as a 14 year old a**.

What a roller coaster ride this saga has become. I am going into wait and see mode. I am not doubting any of the posters providing the info. I believe they 100% trust the things they have been told. I guess my own Hamilton Hangover just won't allow me to get my hopes up. I will start buying in when Dooley is officially given the axe. The longer this takes to happen, the worse off the program will get. The longer they drag their feet, the more recruiting falls apart. So for now, like my old man told me years ago, I will hope for the best and expect the worst.

Fulmer applied the poison.
Kiffin put the knife in the back.
Dooley nailed the coffin shut.

DP, ur one of the few here ill actually listen to when it comes to stuff like this.. What r some more of ur thoughts on this situation?

Boro, the one thing that reall y confuses me is Rucker's stance on the whole matter. I, in a couple of weeks, will be a guest on the Chris Treece Show and Swain and Rucker; I am just thoroughly confused as to why Rucker always acts so offended about the Gruden issue. He has talked to ESPN and has told them that there is mutual interest but that is it.

Is Treece, Ainge and Swain just that much more in the loop or is Rucker just in left field...

A high school sophomore could do what Rucker does.

hes stated that coaching change will happen. any thought of a current deal with Gruden is science fiction.

I would say this is not a true statement.

There are two camps on this issue:

one camp says that they have information and that Gruden is hired (with varying percentages of confidence).

The other camp says the first is 100% full of sh*t. You dont have any real information and there is no way that you KNOW with any degree of certainty that Gruden is coming to UT.

No one is saying that they have information that Gruden is not coming.

So you cant really make a statement that some people have correct information or wrong information. The reality is you have rumors. Rumors are not correct or incorrect. They are rumors. And I'm not 100% sure that there are even rumors at all, rather just people wishing that it were true because they saw a blurb on ESPN and hoping to get lucky and gain some credibility if they happen to be right. If they are wrong, what the heck, its just an internet blog, who cares.

Is deerpark affiliated with the AD or something? Im not trashing him, I don't know him. I know a lot on here considers his words gold. Just curious.

So we are now saying Dooley's departure depends more on the terms of the buyout, rather than on terms of the loss to South Carolina?....

Is there anyway we could fire him and then discuss the terms, or would that completely mess up any leverage we have in the situation...
