Official Jon Gruden Thread III

Please?? Even if true UT would have had to act then not two years or even a year later.

Ever hear of a thing called the Statute of Limitations? I don't know what it is for breaches of contract in Tennessee, but most places are from 2-3 years.

There is a potential waiver issue, though.

Ericvol was no Fulmerite - he predicted Fulmer's firing long before it happened. Come on guys admit it - the timing of this doesn't make sense. Hart would not have given CDD the chance to win this saturday if he had already informed CDD of the decision. CDD will likely be fired, and maybe Gruden will be the next coach but it is extremly premature to be celebrating or acting like it's a done deal.

No being a smart azz Law Vol, but why does it bother you and some others if we want to celebrate a "fantasy"?

Yes....and doesn't matter. I told you guys a week ago when this.news starting coming out what would happen. Media would deny it, rumors would grow, haters would ridicule....and the smoke would cover it all.

Be patient....this is not going to be confirmed soon. Dooley is gone, and has known it for over a week. Jimmy Sexton was shopping him for staff jobs over 2 weeks ago. He made his situation more difficult with his public blowup with Hart in the AD earlier this week. They want to negotiate the buyout based upon his actions toward UNC last year. He is balking....so they are going to let him sit. He's under contract and therefore cannot publicly seek other employment. He's going to made to sit and answer the questions, and smile on the TV shows, until the season is over or he decides to negotiate.
Gruden is done. Believe it or not, I don't care. We won't get confirmation until sometime in November, possibly not until after the UK game. The timeline we discussed last week hasn't changed very much. The deal was agreed to in principle last week. My guess is that yesterdays info may have involved the finalizing of certain details that may have been in question. Hang in there and enjoy it.

This has been my speculation all along, and I do this sort of stuff for a living. UT using a little leverage....

Wow . . . I went and looked and that's no small place. Over 11,000 members

I have a friend who peruses it and sends me pictures that get posted.

One was from a thread where a dad took his little princess on her first squirrel hunt down in the bottoms. Even though they didn't shoot any squirrels, the place is a popular dumping ground and he managed to find himself a real nice deep freezer. Pic included - you could only imagine.

:eek:lol:

Last night I talked to a former all american offensive lineman who does some radio work in Knoxville. He is saying that a Gruden hire is just a rumor, same as four years ago. The only reason there is more conversation about it today is because more people want Dooley gone than wanted Fulmer gone 4 years ago.

Another guy I know in Memphis who is heavy into fundraising for UT in that city also agrees with that assessment.

I think all we know for sure is that Gruden would be interested in taking a look at UT. But then again he's dropped that line about so many other jobs in the past that you'll have to decide how much stock to invest in that.

As far as what Ainge says, I lost a lot of respect for him after the garbage he said on the air prior to the Bama game. He's a drug addict and I think he'll say anything to be considered relevant and get in on this action.

I would almost certainly think that if UT is firing Dooley that they would not just target ONE person as his replacement. This is another reason I put little stock in this whole Gruden thing. I think if Dooley was being fired there would be smoke coming from other camps as well, not just the Gruden camp.

If Dooley gets fired, and that's a big if because it could cost the university between 6 and 9 million dollars to get rid of him and his staff, the most likely scenario is that it would not be announced until the end of the season. If it were announced after the USC game, I would fully expect him to be allowed to finish out the season and if that happens there is almost no chance of UT announcing his replacement prior to Dooley's exit (meaning the end of the season).

I think that's the most rational way to look at this now.

It's one thing to be rational. I lost a lot of respect for you after reading this post. Way to criticize someone who overcame a disease. Pathetic. Keep enjoy mediocrity Dooleyite. The guy is COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT.

Boro, did you see this quote by Hymns

“I do believe that Jon Gruden has talked to some coaches in an effort to put together his staff. The question is: is he doing that for the collegiate level or the NFL level? But I do believe that he has talked to some coaches with the intent to put together a staff to get back into coaching, in spite what he is making at Monday Night Football.”

To breakdown this statement ask yourself, do you think Hyams has more insight on a college level or NFL level? That should help...

He has a good show too. Humble guy that is very self effacing. Very funny.

Ainge is a good guy. He overcame something not easy and owned up to his problems. I don't know why someone would bash him for that.

If you listened to the crap he spouted on the radio in public about purposefully trying to hurt AJ McCarron you would have to ask yourself if this guy is a credible and professional media guy or if he's just a washed up has been trying to become a shock jock in the only town that he could get a job in.

You can think that he's "connected" and "relevant" because he played football at UT. I know a bunch of people who used to play football at UT and NONE of them sound like this idiot.

I wrote several paragraphs in my first post and THIS is the only part of it you can pick apart?

Dont call me a hater because I am capable of looking at the situation without my orange colored glasses on.

- Skeeter

Well...I usually do listen to Skeeter.

SMH, just would be really hard to sell to the media firing your coach the days after his biggest win.

I guess if you have Gruden on the line it doesn't matter.

Oh well...I hope we win Saturday no matter what happens after!

"I can't crawl inside Gruden's head but I can tell you this the powers that be are going after him in ways I didn't know we had in us" Tony B.

Seriously? Angry?

It's the Internet. I think you have to go in knowing that about 10% is true, 80% is uninformed and 10% is a troll job. And on top of that, there's a distinct possibility that SBV's info is 100% correct but something changes and it doesn't happen.

My advice, watch the game on Saturday, have a drink or three and roll with it.

Angry? Yes.
SBV is a Moderator.
There is a big difference between SBV posting that it's done, and, say, me posting that I think we'll get him.

If we have a verbal agreement, and Gruden backs out, then ok. Info was still good.
But, if it's nothing but Gruden confirming he'd be interested in talking if CDD is not retained, then a Mod shouldn't be posting in newspaper headline format that it's done. I don't doubt that SBV heard what he posted, but I know nothing of the quality of the chain of custody of the information.

Of course, if we don't land Gruden, we'll never know how good the info was.
