Duh, because maybe the lawyers are involved? There are a lot of legal pieces moving around right now. You have potential buyouts of existing contracts with FCDD and his assistants. Hart is playing hardball with DD. He is basically forcing him to be a lame duck coach twisting in the wind until the end of the season (and be miserable); or come to his senses and negotiate his buyout down. I think DD wants out as bad as we want him out at this point but he is a spoiled, petulant brat who wants the entire buyout (how can you be a youngest child called precious by your momma and not be spiled?).
You also have to get an understanding in principle with the new coach for his compensation and what he would have to spend on his staff. If you are smart, you have this in place before reaching a final resolution on DD.
Then, you finalize your agreement for less than $5 million with DD and let him "resign" to save face.
Then you sign the deal with the new coach and announce him.
Easy, right?
