Official Jon Gruden Thread III

Last I have heard LWS said something similar to Hubbs that he knows we will target Gruden but he doesn't think anything is finalized yet. He also says he would lean towards him not coming if he had to guess.

Skeeter said he was in the dark on this one a few days ago and hadn't heard anything.:hi:

Sounds reasonable.

By that same vein, so could Bray, CP, AJ or anyone else. If you are saying anything could happen, I agree. But when it rains, it rains on both sides of the field.

But it's usually a game decided by the talent of the players, and skill of the coaches.

people, chill, I only said it was possible, not that it was likely.

I am not arguing that it is going to happen, I was only saying that you shouldn't count your chickens

Basilio's blog says he doesn't think it's done. Technically, he could be correct without conflicting with VN. If it's just a verbal agreement, then it's not done.

Its prolly not. One of the caveats discussed was Grudy wouldn't sign until Dools was gone...and "officially" as far as the public knows, and this includes radio guys, Dools is still coach.

Weird that he showed up on 3HL, where they actually asked him some very pointed questions but he did not make Vol calls where it's 100% company line callers. Maybe he was hurting and had to rest?

I have to think he was urged not to do Vol calls. I would not hesitate to say at least 75% of the call would have been about his decline

Vollyannnas still hoping against hope that we retain Dooley...why? Some to just be able to say "I told you so". They don't give a damn about the future of the program. They love status quo or they aren't UT fans at all. We are going to lose a generation of fans if we don't get it turned around and I believe we will.

Anyone else hear the rumor that Spurrier has set up a paypal account and let the rest of the SEC coaches know that when it reaches $5mill he'll toss the game so we can keep Dooley?

That's a good pun. Funny as hell. But truthfully speaking, Spurrier would put up a hundred on us if he could.

I'm totally on the #GetDooleyOuttaHere bandwagon but if, and a big IF, he wins on Saturday...would Hart still can him next week?
Do the insiders know the answer to that?

Not trying to be a smart butt here, just really curious on how could they spin a firing after a "big" win.

Can I ask why? You don't have to answer if everything is confidential.

Because the number of people I know saying what he's saying just now outweighs the number of people saying Dooley can keep his job with 8 wins.

Inside my head, it's a democracy. I don't have any of my own sources.

I would almost bet money that when Spurrier is asked by the Columbia media on tuesday what he thinks about the Jon Gruden hire he will say "I wish they would have kept Derek Dooley"

It just means they would consider waiting until after we lose to Vandy
