Dooley served his purpose and we should respect him for that. He was a setup coach from the get go, with hopes we might get lucky, but in all likelihood...this was inevitable. Dooley is like the rebound girlfriend that is good looking...but not smokin' enough. Gruden is the smoker in the front, that everyone is looking at...and hopefully he likes our shade of orange as much as he says he does.

For Dooley, the future is now. For UT, a bright future is still in front of us...hopefully with Jon Gruden.

Thanks BJD, EG and Jake for your responses and insight. I would be lying if I said that firing CDD was something that I wanted. I have mixed emotions about the situation, because I want him to be successful, like MOST Vol fans. Emphasis on most. I don't like the portion of our fan base that go after people's livelihood and take whatever opportunity they can to take shots at people. I wasn't like that with Fulmer, Kiffin, or Dooley and I won't be with Gruden if given the opportunity. I struggle with this because I am who I am and The Bottom line is..WHATEVER IS BEST FOR MY UNIVERSITY, MY ALMA MATER, I'M ON BOARD!

I can't help but think we're gonna get the "A deal was in place then Gruden backed out" excuse from these posters claiming it's a done deal.

I want to believe. I just can't bring myself to do it.

It's hard to believe, but it might be harder not to believe with all the smoke surrounding this one.

What ever happens, happens...but it's hard not to believe that Hart isn't going after this with all his heart! I truly believe he has stared the ultimate measuring stick right in the face at Bama and his radar is locked in on the right target. My hope is that if this deal is in fact in place, that he has the resources ($$$) to not take NO for an answer...just like Bama did Saban.

I hate to keep using Bama as our role model...but who else ya gonna use? And why would you use anyone else?

Let's just hope that it's true. In the meantime, in the extremely unfortunate scenario where OCI loses the ban bet with himself, wonder what his new user name will be...

Mods: could you just give babyavi the axe now? Isn't it kind of like keeping Dooley around even though we know he's done? Just ban him already. No need to drag it out any longer. Maybe we can set an example for the AD to follow...

People on Wes Rucker's twitter have basically made him admit that he has no clue what's going on in this situation. He got all defensive when people asked what he knew and he basically spewed out this BS about this year compared to 2009.

the meltdown will be bad bad bad. the college football world will continue to laugh at us and the hire we make will probably fail in comparison. i dont know if it was possible for Hart to keep the whole thing quiet but he should have tried. i also dont understand why Dooley is being allowed to coach this weekend, if his release is indeed iminent(sp). from what some are saying, Gruden is waiting on this to happen before he signs. sooooo why not release the coach and make it happen? things just seem a little strange. then again, its easy to sit at the computer and declare how a multimillion dollar program should be run..
