Someone please refresh me on the field goal controversy. Thanks
Gettin' curb stomped. 4th down deep in Bama's redzone in the 4th quarter.. instead of going for it Dooley kicks the FG instead of going for a TD. Did not matter either way in regards of FG or TD in the grand scheme... but kicking the FG looks bad as if he was trying to pad the score as opposed to playing it out all out til the very end.
Rajion Neal practiced more but it still not 100-percent. Zach Fulton tried to go to today, but all the coaches indicated that Fulton remains doubtful for Saturday.
Defensively, much more talk about playing young guys. You will see Jordan Williams, Saulsberry, maybe Trent Taylor. In the secondary, they act as if they are going to play Bonner and Gray so we will see.
Chaney said that Bray has had a good week on the practice field, and said making any kind of qb change during the game would be Dooley's call. Chaney made it clear that he was comfortable with Worley and that Bray must be more consistent.
-VQBoth Sunseri and defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley said that increased playing time could be in the offing for freshman defensive backs Deion Bonner and Daniel Gray.
"Just showing up at practice every day. Those guys come to practice and they come to work," Ansley said. "Very skilled guys. It's not a matter of when to put them in the game but why to put them in the game. And those guys are proving they can come out here and do it every day so maybe they'll be able to get some time this week.
"I don't think they're better than anybody right now. They're all good players. Dan is fast; we all know that. And Deion is a bigger, heavier guy so they complement each other well. The future is definitely bright at corner."
Added Sunseri, "We're going to play a lot of players. So you go out there and get tired and all that, we're going to play some players."
Zasnow just posted and said Omari Phillips won't be returning next year. If its true, there is another scholly open.
-USCjr Rivals site"They may have some of the best skill position players we've seen," USC linebackers coach Kirk Botkin said on Wednesday. "They have good wide receivers and their quarterback can really throw the football. Their aerial attack is really, really good. It's a different challenge. They run the football too, but they really like throwing it around. And they're good at it. The quarterback hits the fifth step and he lets the thing go. It will be a challenge."
Remarkably, Tennessee has thrown and run the ball an equal amount of times (256), so the play-calling has been evenly divided between. The quarterbacks for the Vols have completed 59 percent (151-of-256) of their passes for 1,997 yards and 16 touchdowns. Tyler Bray (1,914 yards) has taken most of the snaps, with Justin Worley (83 yards), a sophomore from Rock Hill, serving as the backup.
Steve Spurrier said on Wednesday's weekly SEC coaches' teleconference that USC defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles is doubtful for Saturday's game against Tennessee, saying the sophomore from Greenwood "was one player that will not play this week." Offensive tackle Mike Matulis is doubtful as well, meaning Corey Robinson will likely slide back into the starter's role at left tackle.
Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was limited in practice on Tuesday because of the lingering foot issues that have plagued him since high school. Typically, the foot feels better as the week goes along and he is able to play at full speed on Saturday. However, as defensive line coach Brad Lawing pointed out, Clowney isn't improving as a player standing on the sidelines from Monday through Friday.
Also, I have a question. If UT was to somehow beat USCjr on Saturday and win out and even win their bowl game.... that would make them 9-4 on the year. That is almost double the wins they had last year. Do you still show Dooley the door?
