This team needs to put 60 complete minutes of football together. If they can do that, obviously a big if, they can play with Bama. If they play 45 minutes, Bama will cover the spread. If only 30 minutes, even if they are a good 30, we will get run out of our own house.
Bottom line, if we can put it all together either one of these next two weeks, it will be fun to watch.

Bama seems to be short on skill players this year due to injury, but it will be interesting to see our defensive gamplan. Sal better earn that pay-check. He can help immensely. I'd like to stack the box with an extra guy or two, but I just don't trust our secondary, even against average SEC WRs.

Obviously not Freak, but I think in the earlier stages of Volnation, people were given guru status just by having a high post count. That's what I've heard at least, could be wrong. I do agree that there are a few insufferable dbag "gurus".

Cooper is an exceptional WR for Bama. He worries me.

Save for the last 2 months, I have been a very patient and optimistic fan when it came to this program but my patience and optimism have just about reached their limits.

I've grown very weary of "waiting until next year."

Dooley won't get credit for his mental impact on the players, or their maturity. Or, at least the (du)masses won't care about that aspect of the program.

I think most Vol fans would agree on this, no doubt Dooley has this program in better shape now than when he arrived. Problem is coaches are judged on W's/L's, this was suppose to be that year we took the next step, the Dooley supporters that understood the situation he took over targeted 2012 as the year to finally judge him, as of right now, by on field results he isn't passing. JMO.

I think we can put 8 in the box when they run I-formation with some regularity. We can leave Coleman on an island, PWag on their #2 with Moore over the top and McNeil creeping into the box. McNeil will have to stay with their TE though because our LB's are subpar in coverage.

AJ can beat us with his arm, but Coleman, PWag and Moore have all shown the ability to come up with picks.

I really like Dooley and want this regime to do well. I think fans should support whoever is playing for and coaching the university, as long as they are giving their all. And, I really think this bunch is (glad they got rid of Da'Rick).
But, I must admit that Dooley's players are now half way through their junior year, and it is high time we beat someone other than Vandy or NC State. I really want them to succeed and will support them as long as he's coach, but unless he starts to get results (and I mean at least 8-9 wins per season), then I'll be supporting someone else soon, and will welcome the change. Here's to hoping they find a way to win soon, but 6-7 wins a year won't cut it at Tennessee.

How can you say he's doing a good job when he hasn't won against ANYONE yet?

Even Joker Philips managed to beat South Carolina in 2010.

What do you mean by this? Not a flame--just curious as to how he has positively affected the players attitudes.

I get what you're saying and I know a lot of people feel that way..the frustration thing is, if our players make plays in big time situations, we're at worst, 5-1 right now and the whole football forum is wanting an extension for Dooley.

Except maybe chavis..seems like he hates the guy.

the south carolina game will be interesting players will know for sure theres a good chance their playing for their coaches job

coaches seem to get with wins in those situations but maybe he'll already be fired and their playing so he can go out with a good win doubt that tho but if gruden really does happen and bama wins in a blowout why not?

Think about this long and hard......lets say that Dave Hart were to make a move, what top coach is going to want to come into a situation where it will be demanded that he win eight games his first season, nine or more the next season, lest the fans call for his head?

Afterall, a new coach will have the benefit,,that Doooey never had...a full compliment of senior scholarship players. The program will be a true position to compete numbers and talent-wise. The fans would expect it. Why would a top coach leave to take such a risk?

Have we taken the next step? We beat an NC State team that subsequently beat FSU. We have three losses to ranked SEC opponents (two on the road). We still have no senior class. The O-Line is much improved, we're running the ball, special teams coverage/return units are vastly improved, and the team chemistry is fantastic (quite a change from last year). It's difficult in today's SEC to make huge leaps. The losses are disappointing, but we likely finish the regular season 7-5, which would be the most wins since 2009. If we win the bowl game, we would finish with the most wins since 2007. We lead for the #1 RB in the nation and the #2 WR in the nation. Dooley should, and will, be given more time. People should accept the fact and support the team. As is, UT fans are killing themselves and impeding progress.

My previous thought before the Miss St game was all the teams that run the 3-4 base defense(FL, UGA, Bama) would have an advantage over the VOLS and be losses. This theory lead to believe the VOls could go 9-3 with an upset of USCe. All of that has been thrown out the window.

We the fans, weren't mad that the VOLS lost to FL, we were mad because they gave up in the 4th. The fans didn't expect a win vs UGA, but it showed true potential and talent. The Miss st game however was disappointing because the Vols are clearly more talented. The game vs Bama will tell a lot about how the rest of the season will go. We fans should not expect a win, but rather just analyze their "fight"
