We didn't clearly out talent them at running back after Lane and Neal went down. We don't clearly out talent anybody at line backer, especially with Maggitt out. We didn't clearly out talent them at QB either as Russell and Bray are both good QB's that have been making plays all year long. Yes, we were more talented at oline, wr, and dline though, but the talent gap overall is not anywhere near what you are making it out to be.

Actually, devrin, Watson, Patterson, and pig all averaged over 4 ypc.

If by some miracle the team can get it together and beat SC and Bama. It would be a PR disaster to fire Dooley. This team can win, at this point they just have to believe it. If Bama comes out thinking this game is a cakewalk and plays flat (which is where the miracle part comes in, cause no way Saban lets that happen) we have the talent on O to run away from them.

Continuing to support mediocrity at Tenn isn't helping much either. IMO

Mississippi State will lose its last 5 games of the year. IMO. Or at least four of them. Ranking aside, that wasn't a very good football team.

MSU will end up 9-3...they are a good football team.

I posted this in the football forum, just wanted to post here with the level headed folks.

We are now halfway through the season, and I just wanted to list a few things we can build on. Please don't turn this into another butt hurt thread.

- The defense played well against the Miss St. run. They only averaged 3.5 ypc. Compared to UF and GA who averaged a combined 7.5 ypc, this is a drastic improvement.

- Devrin Young and Q Watson came in to the ball game and produced late in the game. I thought they both ran with good vision and physicality which surprised me.

- The offensvive line continues to improve. We finally rushed for over 200 yards and averaged a very impressive 6.3 ypc.

- ZR continues to catch the ball consistently. His game is night and day from last year.

- They are creating ways to get the ball in CP's hands. Lining him up in the back field is just another option.

- Coleman and Mcneil are going to be good players for us in the future, they just need a little more experience.

- We are continuing to show fight even when we get down early. I hate the end result just as much as anyone, but glad they are not giving up.

Go Vols!!!

Alot of the guys are down as expected, they feel they gave away the uga game and the msu game. Mychal feels terrible about his boneheaded special teams play and Byron feels very bad about his dropped pick that hit him between the numbers. They have to make those plays, make those 2 plays and the game turns out different. We should only have 1 loss right now and they know it. They know the fans are pissed, but these guys are tough on themselves too. After the uga game, Bray was crying in the locker room and not because hes a baby. He does care about the team believe it or not.

These guys are all busting there butts. I hope they put the mistakes behind them and come ready to play Saturday, any of us who played sports has been where they are with mistakes shake'm off boys it's Bama week and there is no team I'd rather ruin a season for!!!!

So just to be clear on the rb situation, Neal didn't practice today due to ankle injury & won't be 100% Saturday if he plays at all.

Lane tweaked his knee & it was thought to be somewhat serious. Turns out it's not & he got the first team reps at practice today. Should be good to go Saturday.

Is that correct?

I remember beating the gators at the swamp in 01 as a 17 point dog. I can't recall any other games we won being 17+ dogs right now.

Does anyone remember what the line was in 09 vs bama when we almost pulled the upset?

I agree but I could also see 51-14 or something. It wouldn't surprise me.

I think our offense will be more of a handful for them then people give us credit for. Our O-line is great and even with the Neal injury, we still have plenty of weapons.

Our defense, however... who knows. I could see Yeldon and Lacy rolling up 150 yards each, easy.

Curious to see if Patterson can bust off one of his patented runs against these guys. He's done it against just about everyone else.

If you've lost faith in this team's ability to win, you should at least be excited about the talent of some of the individual players we have. We should enjoy Patterson while we have him. And enjoy seeing this O-Line push people around. That's what I'll be watching this for...

Clarification on Neal's ankle injury:

Dooley said Neal’s ankle injury is “not too bad,” but it’s enough to make him a question mark for this week

Doesn't sound as bad as initially stated. Hopefully he can make a full recovery soon.
