Is Dooley playing?
Honestly, how much of those mistakes can you honestly pin on Dooley?
Bray making bad throws and reads?
Rivera on kick recovery?
Young's fumble?
The countless missed tackles when they were in position?
I could go on. I guess that is the fundamental difference between myself and the rest of VN. I look at that and see players that have no business every competing at the top of the SEC. Others see talent there (possibly because they have potential) and blame those mistakes on the Dooley and company. I hold the players accountable to their mistakes.
Don't get me wrong, I am not acting as if the coaching staff is perfect or doesn't makes mistakes. I just believe in player accountability more than others on this site. I guess that is our true point of disagreement.
FWIW, my post was in response to someone talking about which coaching staff did a better job.
Mullen and his staff called an excellent game. They took advantage of our weaknesses and did not make mistakes.
I blame the kickoff on coaches. Conier should have prepared the players for that situation after CP scored. The formation of the field left the area between the front line and the returners wide open.
The other mistakes you listed, I agree, are on the players. Unfortunately, Neal and Lane went down and we had to use Devrin as the lead back. Nothing much anyone can do about that. The missed tackles were inexcusable. Bray could have played better. Not horrible, but could have been better.
It's just that the first half was filled with mental errors. Illegal formations, wasted timeouts, poor playcalling, poor adjustments. And that frustrates me because it seems easily avoidable and possibly cost us the game.
Overall, you can't blame it all on the coaches or all on the players. They both made critical errors. I belive that the players are accountable for this loss as much as anyone.
