'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Born and raised near Bryson City. True story, cousin of mine in nearby high school saw him warming up when Shuler sitting down threw from 50 yard line to the end zone.

Shuler doesn't get near enough credit for being one of the best ever to play under center for the orange and white.

I don't come around often and don't want to sift through the 168 pages for the good info... how do we stand with this kid? I saw him at Calhouns at the Florida game and he looks like he's ready to play right now.

It's a UT/Michigan battle...Auburn appears to be 3rd. We've got the parents and distance, amongst other things, in our corner.

What does Michigan have in their corner that could be a potential threat? Other than more recent success that is...

Hm. I see. I guess the way I see it, the coaches and players of Mizzou can take it as an opportunity to knock off a traditional SEC team and be motivated by that.

Lmao!!!!!

All the motivation in the world don't mean **** if you don't have the talent to back it up. After Saturday's showing, they will be very lucky to get an independence bowl invite.

Originally from Andrews, NC, about 25 miles west. Bryson City was my ancestral home. Had cousins that lived there. Swain County was always a powerhouse in football, even at the 2A level. As I recall Heath's Dad was a mail carrier and they ran one of the few motels in Bryson City at the time.

They had a couple businesses I think. I know they owned / developed land in NC. It's fun to drive through there and see every business named Shuler something.

Practically every business there has Vols and Shula photos/fan gear.

Pardon my ignorance again, but when does this kid announce?

He hasn't set a date yet but hopes to be an early enrollee. He has an OV set up for the Mich st vs. Michigan game Oct 20th. Likely won't announce until late October or early November at the earliest.

They probably won't, just thought they'd have a bit more resilience than they've shown. It's going to take some time for them to get an SEC quality roster.

If its a UM/UT battle then he should annouce a week or so after his mich visit unless he wants to annouce at an all star game or something.

Does anyone know which all star game hes in?

If he announces immediately after his Michigan visit, that worries me. He seems to favor the most recent school he visits.

Reasons why Green is going to Tennessee
1. He loved how crazy neyland was in the florida game. And a tennessee game day in general.
2. His parents want his close and apperently VT is out of it. Tennessee his alot closer than michigan.
3. His parents really liked UT, this combined with point 2 is very good for us.
4. SEC its a huge deal to recruits and it may be a small factor here but it is a factor.
5. IDK about Derrick Green but Michigan is cold as balls and i wouldn't want to be there when winter hits. knoxville gets cold but not michigan cold. or atlest not as much.
6.CJG nuff said
7.He has an orange mo-hawk

My dad is from there, Heath is a distant cousin. He really could throw that far sitting down. Redskins were the worst thing to happen to him.

Injury prone...ankle never healed properly, foot aliments, and shoulder separation.
+
Heath didn't run a Pro-Style offense at Tennessee. His freakish athleticism was his gift and demise...wasn't ready for the NFL, needed 2-3 yrs to learn the system and to get healthy but because he could throw the rock 60 yds while on his knees, physical and fast he was mounted from day one.

Lattimore's coach his FR year --> Jay Graham

Green's coach his FR year --> Jay Graham

Look for similar production.

Given the talent of our O-Line---similar-to-better production. IMO. I don't think people truly appreciate what we have in CJG, but they will. Look at Neal's development. Lane too, he's showing more confidence in his knee just needs to protect the ball---showing improvement there as well.
