'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

white65, not trying to argue and you may well be right. From many AU sources, he visited AU twice this summer. On last visit around Labor Day, he supposedly was going back to work out with his HS coach about announcing AU in nationally televised game. Coach said no to announcing during game. That is what was reported on several AU sites.

Proximity appears to play some roll but he has shown little interest in UVA which is only 50 or so miles away from Richmond. He has been able to travel to several schools on unofficial visits so I am not sure proximity/resources is too much of an issue.

Thank you for being respectfull man. And maby all of that stuff did happen, he may have been a silent to AU for all we know.
BUT, after the Tennessee Florida game nomatter who was the leader. Tennessee became the leader. I have been to Neyland 3 times and i have been to a couple heavy metal concerts. Neyland during that florida game was the loudest place i've been in my life. with the barn burning i can't see him going there. and UVA is in richmond where hes from but they aren't in it. Virigina tech or Tennessee is where his parents want him. They want him as close as possible lol

Any worries of Lawson seeking his entertainment elsewhere?

According to most reports, Lawson is solid to AU. Below is what he said to Rivals after visiting for AU-LSU game.

"I think Corey Lemonier and Dee Ford are so explosive, true speed rushers that LSU had to double team. They are both monsters. The main thing they both implement is their speed and explosion.

"The crowd was awesome, that's a SEC environment. It was a great game to watch. I thought at the end they might get a field goal, anything is possible in college football. I thought they had a great chance of winning a couple of times. You have to capitalize.

"I can't wait until it's my turn. I talked to coach (Gene) Chizik and coach (Mike) Pelton before the game. It was good, I know they were disappointed after the game."

According to the same report, Lawson has no current plans to make other visits, outside an official to Auburn.

doesnt sound like lawson is going anywhere, that auburn d could be hellacious by the time we end up playing them. greaaaat

AU defense does look like it can be formidable in the near future. Young defensive backs starting to step forward but still questionable at linebacker with current players. (Probably why we have 4 linebacker committments). Many AU fans deeply concerned about offense under first year OC and slowness of Frazier to develop. His confidence is lacking to say the least right now. Perhaps attibutable to 3 talented but RS Freshman, true freshmen on offensive line.

Distance will be an issue for Green. It sounds like the parents are leaning UT. But when you consider distance remember that UVA, nor VT, are in the big boy league. Parents + SEC + distance = UT.

If I were Jay Graham I would let Green know that most AU running backs will be Arkansas State grads some day. Or maybe worse.

Losing Jovon Robinson hurt Auburn bad. I guess you can't lose what you never really had though.

I don't hate Auburn, but damn that's a dirty program.

I get the animosity toward Auburn. Robinson's loss did hurt. True or not, AU reportedly was the first to question Robinson's transcript after getting two conflicting ones.

I'm pretty sure UVA is in Charelston, or something like that, could be wrong but realy don't think its in Richmond.

You guys would be good if you had a QB. The skill positions are fine and the defense isn't bad at all(I'll trade you). That QB of yours is the problem though because the backs are fine and the WRs are speedy playmakers.

No disagreement with that statement at all. QB either grows up this week or AU may be running a whole bunch of wildcat with a true freshman the rest of the year.

Acc to ESPN, Green (4.31) is A LOT faster than UF's Taylor (4.6) and Bama's Henry (4.7). Kamara (4.55) is faster than these two guys too. No reason we don't get both Green and Kamara.

ESPN to Rivals they have DG running a 4.3-4.4 40. Presently 6' 215-220, easily hit 225-230 in a good S&T program.
Landing both Green and Kamara (my personal "Dream Team") would be huge for the program! A Green-Turman duo is good as well.
'14 RB Jalen Hurd would be a great addition to any of the combo's above.

OrangeHammer - Nothing scientific about AU-UT alliance. We battle UA and UGA every year for most of our recruits. With exceptions, i.e. GWright, we do not compete across the board with UT for recruits. Secondly we often feel battered sitting between UA and UGA. Many AU fans/grads live in GA or Alabama and they hate the "home' state team. We play them every year just like you do and I can assure that the overwhelming number of AU fans root for TN in those games. AU would love to see TN once again super competitive with UA and beat the crap out of UGA. UA is our most bitter rival and UGA is second. TN is a SEC rival but not "hated" by most AU fans. Hope that helps explain.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Add Green to how Neal and Lane are running and you get old school UT football. Will make our passing game so much more deadly.

We need a D.Green at LB. Like right now.

Yeah he may get to the strength and power level of Lewis one of these days.

Sarcasm, BB, or did you just misread my original post? DG current rating his higher than that of both T. Henry and J. Lewis as HS Sr's.

Remember it was Jasper Sanks who was considered THE RB in the state of GA and one of the best in the country coming out of HS. UGA went w/ Sanks who "tanked"---pun intended---while Lewis sought AND got his redemption/revenge.

lol man o man

and can leap tall buildings in a single bound

Crazy?? That he runs with power similar to T. Henry OR that he has the speed similar to J. Lewis at this stage of development?

J. Lewis' best 40 is 4.37 his NFL Draft Combine time was 4.58.
Jamal Lewis - RB - Tennessee - 2000 NFL Combine Results

At least have your facts straight if you're going to call-out or mock someone.

SMH. Reading comprehension is a beautiful thing.

Think he meant a Derrick Green type player...Big, physical freak not afraid of contact. Pretty sure he didn't mean Derrick Green should transition to or play LB.

In the highlights I've seen, DG pulls away from no one. I still think he looks like a terrific back, but was wondering if others saw the explosive player this 40 time suggests
