Hurd is a talent. He was not soft by any means. MJ did a really decent job on him.
He reminded me of a tall Lattimore. Everytime he touched the ball you felt like he was going to take it to the house.

EB4H you and I watched a different game. I would take JH in a heartbeat.

It's not classless a play action bomb to a 9 route is classless. A sweep is not. You're over reacting. It's HS.

Probably , I coached some of the kids and of course my son. Beech and MJ got some bad blood somewhere along the way or Beech and Coach Perry.

Its good to have a Wilson/Sumner County rivalry again. Things like this are talked about and used as motivation for years to come.

I think we're ignoring the fact that you don't look at a high schooler, particularly a junior, as someone who you expect to start for your school in year one. You look at a high schooler's potential, and what they can become through proper coaching and great S&C. Hurd can get all of that here and at the moment has a tremendous amount of potential due to his overall athletic ability and his ability to explode out of any holes he can find. So saying that this kid is all hype just because he beat your alma mater is a pretty low thing to do.

He doesn't seek contact because he has the ability to run by people just as effectively. He was constantly facing a stacked box last night and he was able to run for around 200 yards even if you exclude the last run before the end of the game. So this kid has potential and that's what you look for in a recruit, give him time to progress and he could be a good player regardless of where he commits.

It could be the reason he was trying to bounce it outside was that there were 8 or 9 in the box every play. Going for over 250 discredits any argument to the contrary about his strategy to do so. Avoiding hits to get 250, well avoid the hell out of em.

Yeah because Coach Perry is the classiest coach in Tennessee.

Whether in Westmoreland, Portland, Mt. Juliet, or the dark side of the moon, he has a reputation that precedes him. Not saying he isn't a good coach, but let's not debate his coaching integrity---he has none.

Look, I hope the kid makes it. I hope he goes to UT and becomes the best RB we've ever had. All i'm doing is stating that in my opinion he doesn't have what it takes to be a successful RB at the next level. If you disagree, fine. I have yet to talk to anyone that was actually at the game that disagrees. However, i'm sure Beech fans will say "look he had 200+ yards! " and call it a good game no matter what. He also had an interception stolen from him from a 5-9, 165 pound DB, so there's that too.

He's a good back. He's not great by any means. I wish him the best of luck, as I do any player.

I'll see him play again, maybe my opinion changes. We'll see, could have just been an off night. I know y'all will say 250+ yards is a hell of an off night well yeah, it is. I'd rather see ability than yards.

The shelf life for running backs are shorter than any other player on the field. So, why would a big running back try and run over people on first down if he does not have to. Most backs his size do not have agility or the ability to out run the pursuit. However, Hurd can out run the pursuit on first down and will run you over on 4th and 1. IMO that is a very smart running back who has the ability to play at any level.

Dont quit your day job to become a recruiter!!!

People are crazy thinking this kid is not top SEC material. I have seen all of the videos and there is a reason that the top schools are after him.

"Very quiet 282" might be the funniest thing I've read on VN. Awesome.

And was probably the dumbest thing i've ever said. Haha.

I could tell he had yards, it just seemed like he ran into wide open spaces. He made people miss here and there but not too often. I'd take him at UT, but wouldn't have high expectations for him.

And as a couple have said, yes feel free to shred me if he tears it up in college ha! I'm too lazy to bump if he is a bust, though. Ha.

Was thinking/hoping he was running differently because the offers are already there, doesn't want to risk injury. Very well could be it because I remember him running totally different at Beech last year.

So, did he run into wide open spaces or run over people? Cause to my knowledge a RB does both.

You might as well leave this thread. You've lost all credibility, and now you're just making yourself look ridiculous.

16 years old, top rusher in the state and nation. Gets the job done however he has to like any good RB!

not sure he's the tops in the nation after the Oregon kid ran for 644yds and 10td's last night

1228 for tyner, 1320 for Hurd . Tyner has played 3 games, Hurd 4 . Tyner had 580 something thru two games then blew up against an apparently bad rushing defense. Hurd just had a very "quiet" 280 or so against mj, a pretty good team. Tyner has 17 tds in 3 games. If the end zone didn't stop him from accumulating yardage he'd have had a 1000 in that game. Ridiculous. Bet that boy is tired.

Hurd should have around 1500 now.

Max preps showed him at 1320, but the way their site is set up, you really can't tell if the game listed is included or not. It does list them as having played mj. Looks like he had 1230 pre mj, best I can tell, lots of diff numbers from many tn papers. One paper had him at 299 last night which would eclipse 1500

Talked to people close to him today and they said its an Alabama and Ohio St. battle. Never even given Tennessee a thought, even though they are always in his ear.

Why?

Doesn't this kid supposedly wear UT gear at school and grew up a UT fan? Or is that untrue?

"It was great. I got a chance to go in the locker room before the game and have a brief conversation, kind of a greeting, from coach Derek Dooley and the offensive coordinator," Hurd said. "It was a good time and I enjoyed the atmosphere and it was a great game."

"The main thing they told me was that they wanted me running the ball for the University of Tennessee," Hurd said.

"Just the atmosphere. I've always grown up a UT fan and just coming into the game and the UT-Florida experience was a really great time," Hurd offered.

"I'm not really sure right now. I've always been a UT fan, but I don't really know where they are on my list right now. I'm just kind of taking everything in," Hurd said.
