'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

Just watched his highlight film. He's an incredible athlete. Really hope he comes to UT. He seeks out the sidelines a bit too much for my taste, and I don't like those plays where he actually backs up to look for an angle to the outside. He'll try that once at the SEC level, he'll be tackled for a ten yard loss and then benched, and that will never happen again.

In my opinion, if he makes an effort to play a physical brand of RB on every snap, he could be special. It's unfair for something that big to move that fast. He could be the kind of back who hurts a defense, demoralizes them, and then blows by them when they're worn down and beaten up.

Should be an excellent blocker at that size too. How well does he catch out of the backfield?

Apparently he catches the ball pretty well, as Bama wants him to play a H-back/TE role, if RB doesn't work out. I believe that TW said on one of his visits the coaches had him running some routes at WR, too. TW, is that correct?

No joke! I'd love to get my hands on some of that!

Saw Derrick Henry following the game....we sat in Y6, which is directly behind the recruits section. FWIW, I showed him some love. Hopefully he will pick UT...but who knows after that performance.

Man, that's tough! Derrick Henry is the only guy I really want in UT, but after that game- who knows.

Neal was running through that front 7 and was a shoestring tackle away from a bunch of long runs. The run-blocking is definitely improving. CJG’s coaching is starting to kick in.

I think Henry saw everything he needed to see here.

I agree with this, which makes it that much more frustrating that we abandoned the run game tonight. Neal was having a breakout game of sorts, and Chaney responds by... never giving him the ball again.

If anything would have helped us stay in the game tonight, it would have been to slow Florida's momentum and give our defense a breather by eating yards and clock with Neal. Instead, Chaney calls three straight pass plays for a three and out in less than ten seconds. No wonder the defense started lagging.

I've not seen him there BPV. My concern with putting Hinshaw at OC is what his philosophy would be. Statistically in terms of points and yards, his teams at GA Southern and MTSU were explosive. I just want to see a true pro-style offense with a coordinator truly dedicated to running the football.

With all that being said, I realize this is all purely premature and speculative.

IMO they abandoned the run game to early they were actually doing a decent job on the outside and Neal was actually geting runs up the gut. Even though the outcome wasn't good Neal's performance restored my faith in him as a starting running back he still needs to work on his ball control issues but over all i think that he will be a good back as the season goes on.

Seems like Chaney always goes away with what's working, which was our between the tackles running..IMO, until UF shows that they can stop it, why not keep doing it?

I did like Chaney's playcalling but we shouldn't abandoned the run game. Florida at one point couldn't stop it. I still think with a little more stamina and more work to our run game we will still be hard to stop.
