Atrocious. Only 13k seats for the folks who pay tuition, room&board, "Maintenance" fees, you get it. If every damn student wants to be at that game, every damn student should have a ticket with their name on it.
So you're saying that UTK should hold back ~28,000 tickets to each game and not even attempt to sell them until a week beforehand on the off chance that every student in the university might want to go. Great idea. When's the last time the students used up their entire allotment again?
I'm an alumnus. I paid a ridiculous amount of fees too. I didn't always get a ticket. It happens.
Depending on when you graduated, (a.k.a any year before this year) they're paying more than you did.
All they'd have to do is allow a 1 week student purchasing period where there was no limit, a month ahead of the game. When the week is over, the tickets go to full sale.
A bunch of the posters on this site scalp the tickets on gameday anyway, so waiting up until a week before isn't a big deal.

Excuse me? That's incredibly rude to those who pay themselves or take out loans themselves. It is their school, after all.
So let's be fair to fickle college students on the off chance they all decide to show up for a home game as opposed to selling the tickets to willing buyers to generate more money for the university. Yeah, great idea.
To many entitled people out there.
I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty positive that students can't do this with their tickets. The ticket is for them personally and requires ID at the gate, although there may be the occasional ticket checker who doesn't ask. Still, it's too much of a gamble.
I would imagine those taking out loans without any assistance from their respective family are in the minority.
So while you deem it rude, I deem it truthful.
And as far as 'their' school goes, to a degree it is their school seeing as they or their family is spending money to go there. But a couple of quick questions(mainly rhetorical)
Is Tennessee a state ran university?
Who pays money to the state?
What about the people who donate money to the university? go to games? buy memorabilia? concessions?Parking?
Point is, it's a lot of people's 'school' and they aren't whining.
Any student deserves a chance to go to the game. I suggested a time-period system around a month ahead of time so the leftovers could be sold to the general public.
How long do y'all think the AD would last if those darned donors and season ticket holders disappeared? Oh that's right, the student fees would cover it.
How about the new facilities? Did student fees pay for that also? This is ridiculous.

Cant believe there are 13k students who care about football here. Most could care less about sports
Sad but true. There are too many students here that are apathetic about what makes Tennessee great. A lot of them claim to be "fans", but most just want to get hammered every weekend and use football as an excuse to start early.
