'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

It's not everyday you hear about a kid of his talent level wanting to get his degree before a shot at the NFL. Great maturity on his part

I'll be shocked if we're not one of his officials. He loves it here and so does his family. The one thing that probably stuck out more than anything to him and the family, was the vfl program and the fact he can come back and get his degree for free if he were to leave early.

And don't forget that academics is very important to him. I think that we will be in on this one until NSD, unless something horrible happens this season.

3. Derrick Green, Richmond (Va.) Hermitage

Camps like this aren't made for 230-pound running backs, but Green once again showed his ability. He caught the ball well for the most part (a couple drops) and he showed his upfield burst. He's very good at scraping off linebackers and getting separation, and he's simply too big and powerful to check.
-Rivals.

You know, I really don't feel like we're completely out of it for this kid like some say. I really think we might have a shot.

If we can have a 1000 yard rushing year out of one of our backs, we may get his attention

If not, it will probably be VT

I have no idea why Meyer is recruiting a RB his size, unless its to move him to LB. Meyers offense will not work with a big RB.

If we have 1000 yrd rusher though, they will be returning for next season. So, I don't know if it will matter.

A. We have a 1000 yard rusher, and Green becomes concerned about playing time.

B. We don't have a 1000 yard rusher, and Green becomes concerned about how much run the football.

Either way though, I think he comes here because we are going to win 9-10 games this season.

Would love Derrick Green to be a Volunteer. Coach Graham and Derrick Green would be a winning combination.

Because he runs a 4.4 40 yarder. Rivals actually lists him at 4.37. Big or not, they don't get a whole lot faster than that. He's the #1 RB for a reason. He's not JUST big.

I sure hope all the five stars out there just jump to commit because we win nine games but personally I dont see it.

Based on the recent conversations in the Jordan Wilkins' thread, I thought this would be interesting to post from one of the latest articles on Derrick Green. He's breaking down why he likes different schools:
Auburn - "(Running backs) coach (Curtis) Luper says I'm the No. 1 back they want right now. He came down to my school and drew up a couple of things and told me how they'd use me. I'm building a good relationship with him."
-Rivals

So much for them telling Wilkins he was their guy and that they wanted him to commit.

Telling all these kids the same thing will have to eventually bite them in the ass, I would think.

I believe they said the same thing to Tyshon Dye. We need to use this to our advantage with Wilkins.

read through the dye thread, we also told dye we wanted him to be our one and only back...... so im pretty sure were playing a similar game with rbs.

maybe, maybe not. just tell them all that weve got about three top guys and only need one so when the spot is gone its gone. may make one of them jump at the chance to join...
